I've seen some folks admitting on their blogs that they are getting sick of snow and snow pictures. Well, those folks won't want to scroll down THIS post.
I don't feel that way. I love EVERY season - - - and I especially love a winter that is cold and snow filled. We've been having my FAVORITE kind of winter this year.
The alternative to a snowy winter, at least the way I see it, is a cold rainy, drizzly, muddy, and gray winter. Those give me really bad hair days. I'll take snow over that ANY DAY OF THE WINTER!!!
This past week, we had two or three days of fog. That strange phenomenon of fog on a day whose temperature is below freezing.
This was my view early Saturday morning. Can you see through the fog? Can you see what is ALREADY happening to the fog shrouded trees?
Well, I found myself hopping up, hurrying to the patio doors, and shooting picture after picture as the FROSTING continued to occur.
It is fascinating.
It is sparkly.
It is beautiful!!!
Thank God for the JOY of winter.
As the fog thinned, the "frosting" became more visible.
Suddenly the sun broke through. Oh my - - - gotta HURRY now to get some pictures before the diamonds all melt away in the warmth of the sun!!!
Just look at those white feathers at the end of black arms against a blue sky.
How could anyone get tired of this? How could anyone be depressed by this?
Classic white on black with a splash of red. Do you suppose this is where fashion designers got the idea for this particular color scheme?
Delicate icy fingers just dripping with many faceted diamonds.
And all this, emerging out of a winter fog. Simply amazing.
They call it hoar frost, but I call it beautiful.
And another winter wonder - - - shallow sastrugi in my back yard.
I'm reminded of what the Apostle Paul said: "I have learned whatever STATE I am in, therewith to be content." I think he even meant Indiana - - - and I just want you to know, I AM content!!!
Have a great day.

I love your attitude! One of the promises God makes to us in the Bible is that as long as the world continues, we will have the seasons. So, we might as well plan on it!
And, when you were telling about the icing on the trees...I was raising my hand. You didn't call on me, but I remembered when you taught us about HOAR FROST! nd now I know about that 'S' word that is the sharp ridges in the snow.
I would never have known any of those things...so thanks! And, Happy Valentine's Day!
Well you are causing me to covet - I would LOVE to have a bit of real winter weather. We were out of school Friday for FLURRIES. No sticking, no ice, just flurries. Sheesh. I want SNOW!!!!
Enjoy it Keetha. Happy Valentine's Day!
How wonderful to rejoice in the season. Your winter photos are beautiful and maybe, just maybe, we will have a few more beautiful snow days before spring drops in.
Wishing you a wonderful week!
Beautiful pictures......and thanks for the answer to my question....and thanks for the word "sastrugi"....we had them in the front yard today, after last nights winds......
Stay warm and enjoy....LindaMay
Thanks, Keetha, for this beautiful post. I have sat on my couch every morning and just savored the scenery outside the window. I, too, am loving winter!! Glad there's another Hoosier who is enjoying God's creativity!
I have to admit, I am not a fan of the snow. But I will say that the freezing fog did make the trees look beautiful. I'll give you that. :-)
Beautiful pictures! You are so right, we should be content right where we are no matter the weather. I am especially content this winter because I no longer have
bus duties :)
I too call it beautiful!!! I have loved this winter..we didn't get quite enough snow if you ask me..I have so enjoyed it too. Thanks for sharing the beautiful pic's and you contagious joy! Love ya :D
Thanks for reminding me of the beauty of this season. And yes, I much rather have snow, than bare, brown ground. Hoar frost, with the sun is so beautiful. When we have sunny winter days I feel pretty good. It's those dark, dreary days that get me kind of down. It's snowing here again tonight, Dan made a fire, and it's nice and cozy. Hugs, Cindy
These pictures are fantastic, Keetha! I wish I coul dhave been home when it snowed a few days ago. I would have love to see the surrounding. DH emailed some pics but it's not the same as seeing it first hand...Christine
I will have to say that I do enjoy all the seasons too, winter included...I do like the cozy feeling of being inside during a snowstorm. And the beauty of your pictures is breathtaking. On the other hand I'm perfectly content right now in the 75 degree AZ weather!
Is that what hoar frost is? Wow, I guess I never knew that. I thought it was some kind of reference to peat bogs and Ireland.
I always called that "frozen fog", and used to love to see it outside on the cherry trees.
So Pretty!! I love how you caught the transition!
Your frosty tree pictures were wonderful! Transforms our world for a little while!
A in the UP
Those pictures are beautiful Keetha! We don't get a lot of snow here (which is fine with me) but the little we get makes me happy every time. I know it won't last long, that's why I enjoy it so much.
Something else in all this snow, it's cold but you can add more clothes, when you're over heated in the summer, you can't get more naked :P
this may surprise keri, but i don't know if it's because this is my last winter here or what, but i have not disliked winter all that much this year. i also don't feel like we've had that bad of a winter... which i can totally support :)
I'm with you. I love snow. We just don't get enough of it here. Last night we were under a winter storm warning. That means snow, right? Nope. Nothing this morning.
These are beautiful! Thanks for a dose of winter on my 80 degree winter day. *sigh* I'd much rather be there!
I'm with YOU - that is gorgeous! It'd have to take your breath away seeing it in person.
We got a wee bit of snow Friday morning - all of one big inch. Three schools in area were closed. Seriously.
OH MY GOSH, truly some of THE BEST winter pics I've seen all season!! I will never tire of looking at them all.
You post em, I will come!
I am always praying that I will experience His peace, joy and contentment. What a beautiful way to end your post Keetha, but to declare you are content. AMEN!
Hello! Sastrugi! So THATS what you call that! We had one in our backyard not so long ago. You ALWAYS have the coolest words! That's cuz you're a smart science teacher!
I loved your photos. We had the hoar frost this winter, too. It is an amazing weather phenomenon!
Hope you had a great Valentine's Day and Presidents Day....you were off, weren't you?
your frosty show pics are absolutely beautiful!!! I love it when the sun shines on the crystals and it looks like glitter EVERYWHERE!
Saw your post on Julie's Harward's blog. Love the pictures. So beautiful!!

I agree! I agree! I agree! I love the snow...of course I live in NC, but we've had several snows this winter and I love it!

Tales from Bloggeritaville
GUILTY! IT WAS ME, I SAID IT!
You are absolutely right, Keetha. Thanks for helping me get my perspective back on track.
Have a great week!
Beautiful pictures and more sastrugi! As a collector of crazy, unrelated facts, I'm so excited to know this new word! I'm thankful I'm not a farmer and can enjoy the snow from the warmth of my house--and enjoy your snow from the heat of my laptop!
I love your pictures
where I live in Colorado we have had a few snowstorms but nothing big. Usually the sun is out the very next day or same day.
I want a snowstorm that lasts a few days and no sun, just once will make me happy
Ok, ok...your pics are beautiful. But this snow? IT. NEEDS.TO.STOP. Here in Ohio the kids have had school one day out of the last 9. Yep, they are home again today! I think we are all getting a little cabin fever!
Thank you for your nice email...I needed that encouragement. :)
Well, you know I'm starved for snow. So I love seeing your snow pictures!
And yes, slushy winters are just gross.
Amen. Be content in whatsoever state you are.
Simply gorgeous photo's Keetha...God paints the most beautiful landscapes!
I love the snow...we haven't had as much as we normally do...sigh.
chris said he is really surprised and disappointed in you for using the word 'hoar' on your blog for the world to see... tsk tsk mother
Indiana and Ohio I think we are sharing a lot of this snow. I love the snow what I don't like is the shorter days and less sunlight. I was out yesterday taking photos of frozen waterfall and it was truly a wonderland. Have a great weekend
What beautiful pictures. It's Brenda's fault I'm over here to visit. You know, the guilty one? She told me about your wonderful wit and humor and the beautiful pictures you post. I think I'll be back for more if you don't mind. Thanks for gfting yourself to all of us!
( I came upon uyour name in Lori R.'s blog).
You remind me of your mom last time we stayed in their home. She would stand by their Dining Room pic. window and watch for a hawk which would occasionally grace their yard. (No, I do not mean she was expecting a visit from her hawk-eyed daughter!)
I love this type winter as well. I've really been enjoying taking in the winter here at "The Farm".
What amazing photos! WOW!
