Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Brunhilda and Borris Rock Out To Heavy Metal

.

You've heard that there's more than one way to "skin a cat?"

Well, there's more than one way to rock out to heavy metal too.

THIS is the Brunhilda and Borris way to rock:

Four-Legged Rockers:

Kiss a Pink Piggy

Happy Wisconsin Cow

Rocky the Squirrel or Squirrel Nutkin

When Pigs Fly

Billy Goat Gruff

Flying Rockers:

Chanticleer Rooster

Penguins of Madagascar
(They fly through the water)

Great Blue (?) Heron

The Roadrunner

The End.

Hope you enjoyed our "rockin' tour."

Now THIS is a View

.

Cloudless azure blue skies overhead,

Pine trees and lapis lazuli-blue water at our back,

A cool breeze ruffling our fur,

And a chicken burrito for lunch.
THIS is living!
I guess Miss Keetha is off da hook now.

.

Norse-Bears

.
Brunhilda and Borris Bearsaltandpepper here again, but you can call us Brunhilda and Borris Bearsaltandpepper.

Last summer Miss Keetha brought us back "home" to the northwoods so we could reconnect with our roots. This year she brought us to reconnect with hers.

This was the farm house home of some of Sister Pam's and Miss Keetha's childhood friends, Shirley, Stubby, Bob, and Geezer. They used to come out here to romp and play in the country.

I guess the house doesn't look "right" now because some in-between owner made an addition which changed its look altogether. More's the pity.

See that plywood? That's covering an old time cellar entrance.

Seems that once when Miss Keetha and Sister Pam were just wee little girls, they were having a picnic here on the farm with their friends. A terrible storm blew up - - - the clouds were just roiling and rolling toward the house.

All the picnic people fled to the cellar to wait it out.

Only Stubby thought to bring his plate - - - which he ate before them all.

Miss Keetha says, and Sister Pam agrees, that this is where the barn used to be. They miss it.

After traveling a bit across country, we stopped at this place for lunch:

It's a Norwegian Restaurant, in case the "Norske" didn't already give it away. This is a favorite stopping place for Miss Keetha.

Sister Pam ordered mashed potatoes, hot turkey, and gravy in a bread bowl.

It was the size of Mount Olympus!!! She ate it all except part of the bread bowl. We were just hanging around, sniffing, and HOPING for a bite or two. We didn't get one.

Brunhilda quite got in the spirit of things waving the flag of Norway over my head - - -

And later tryin' on a Norwegian frock.

Next we headed to Wisconsin Rapids where "the girls" went to high school. When we arrived at our hotel, we found the rooms to be just lovely, but the view - - -

Brunhilda said, "Is this what they expect a she-bear to LOOK at??? Where's the northwoods?"

"Now Hildy," I said, "we aren't IN the northwoods anymore."

"Northwoods, smorthwoods!!" shouted Hildy. "We ain't in ANY woods now, Borris!!!"

I quickly looked around and said:

"Settle down and lookie over yonder to yore RIGHT, ma. Them thar are a FEW little trees, we'll just have to make do with those.

Besides, I think I heard Miss Keetha say we would go to Lake Wazeecha tomorrow."

Hildy processed that for a bit and then piped down.

I guess she remembered how she loved Lake Wazeecha when she saw it last summer.

As she settled into hibernation mode, she was heard to growl: "Humph. She BETTER take us out to the lake or I'll hijack her lappy again tomorrow and give her bloggy friends an ear full."

The Making of a Classic - Behind the Scenes

The other day for the Bloggerette Sorority "Rush" I posted a live remake of the bloggerette sistas photo. So many of you got a little chuckle out of that, the BEST picture of the lot, I thought you might get a downright LOL out of the outtakes.

Now Miss Cindy of Applestone Cottage, who has far more class, decorum, and grace than either Sister Pam or myself, didn't really want me to SHOW the outtakes to bloggyland.

Folks, I have groveled. I mean, I got down in the dirt, kissed her feet, and BEGGED. I told her it would be a barrel of fun. I told her we would be just plain SELFISH to keep all that laughing and giggling to ourselves when all of blogland would LOVE a good laugh on us.

She graciously gave me permission. She's just classy like that.

As you look at these, in your mind's eye picture me running up and down the steps between shots to reset the camera and get back in line.

So - - - without further ado here they are:

Take One!!!

Take Two!

Take Three!

Take Four!

Take Five!!!

Oh good grief - - - it's a wrap!

.

Brunhilda and Borris in "Day-Trippin'"

.

Brunhilda and Borris Bearsaltandpepper here, but you can call us Brunhilda and Borris Bearsaltandpepper.

Miss Keetha has been hauling us all over the northwoods, but she hasn't been letting us make any posts ourselves. We had to sneak onto lappy in the middle of the night just to tell this little story!!

First of all, she makes us do all the work. Well, Sister Pam and dad help too. Miss Keetha has some flimsy little surgery excuse about not lifting heavy things - - - but does that mean she packed LIGHT? Aux contraire, mes amis, she went loaded for BEAR!! She ladens us down like pack mules so she can be free to point that digi-cam at whatever suits her!!!

Brunhilda didn't want to leave Eau Claire - - - said she liked the digs there. I told her we were on an adventure and might as well grin and BEAR it.

She grumbled all the way to the next port of call. Do you know how miserable it is to share close purse quarters with a growling she bear???? Let's just say I could BEARLY BEAR it. Between putting up with her AND Miss Keetha, I think I deserve an award.

When we arrived in Hayward, even Brunhilda growlingly admitted Miss Keetha did all right when she reserved this place!

We checked out the paddle boats. They were pretty classy with their little green awnings!

We scoped out Hayward Lake - - - which is really just a widened part of the Namekagon River. Pretty stuff!

We think Fisherhubby would like to put his boat in here. Of course, Miss Keetha made him stay home and go to work.

We prowled around the shoreline where the only wildlife we found was a fast little chipmunk.

At the end of the day, we were plum tuckered out with all that luggage haulin', purse packin', movin' in, and explorin'.

Sister Pam was exhausted too, so we hunkered down with her for a little hibernation.

And now we must hide back in Miss Keetha's purse before she catches us using her lappy!!!

Ta ta 'til next time - - -

Breaking Through the Fog
(First posted on 2/23/08)

As I sat at my computer this morning contemplating my next blog post - - -

Through the window I saw this - - -

The sun breaking through the fog.

Ready, set, post!!!

.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

.

Help please, fellow blogger users. Where in the WORLD have they hidden the "fonts and colors" button now that they've added this new "design" button on blogger? (Which button I HATE BTW)

I'm talking about the button to change fonts and colors of fonts on the blog header and sidebar.

Thanks sistas!!! I found it!!!

Wherein Brunhilda and Borris Learn to Quilt With Cousin Shirley

.
I NEVER thought I'd be able to do a quilting post on my blog.

Never.

I don't sew.

I don't knit.

I don't do any of those "homemakey" things.

But I have relatives who do!!!! Lots of relatives who do.

Meet Cousin Shirley. Shirley is the sister of Cousin Doug about whom I posted here and here. She is a seamstress extraordinaire who taught high school Home Ec. before she retired.

Yesterday when Sister Pam, Dad, and I stopped in to visit with her, she was putting the finishing touches on this gorgeous quilt, getting ready to enter it into several competitions.

This is the cathedral window pattern. Shirley has been working on this quilt, bits and pieces at a time, over the last 30 years. She is using scraps of fabric left from family sewing projects. She even has fabric from our grandmother, who passed away when I was in Junior High.

This scrap of cloth was left over from the first 4H dress Shirley made when she was in 8th grade.

This scrap of fabric was left from a simple shift dress that Shirley's mom, my Aunt Ferol, made and wore to a wedding.

Just before the wedding, Shirley's husband, Dave, suggested to his MIL that it was time to get ready for the wedding, to which she replied, "I AM ready." I guess Dave thought the dress was too simple and too plain for a wedding, but Aunt Ferol lent an air of grace and charm to everything she touched.

Since I don't quilt or sew or go with those who do, and since I do NOT want to be accused of neglecting the education of Brunhilda and Borris, I asked Shirley if she would give them a little quilting lesson.

She gladly complied.

"Come here, little bears, now let me show you this - - -"

"Look very closely, my little bears, I don't want you to miss this step!"

If you are new here, and you think I've gone completely off my rocker, and taken Shirley with me - - - well I have. However, you will understand a bit more about Brunhilda and Borris if you look here.

For my old timers, there are still more B & B posts on the way - - -

Bloggerette Sorority Rush

.

Today is "rush" day for the Bloggerette Sorority. Our rush assignment, given to us by Karen at Some Days are Diamonds, was to do something creative with the sorority photo and post it.

Well now girls - - - -

I realize most of you have NEVER heard of little ole me before, so you do not KNOW that I don't "do" crafty, decorative, gardening, baking, cooking, or tablescaping type things.

I "trade" in irreverent humor.

Why, it is the GOAL of my blog to make you spit and snort.

So obviously, no frilly, lacy, girlie project was going to originate with me. I have to be creative in a different way.

So, without further ado, here is my creative "rush" project, in two parts.

First my "virtual" frame on the photo. Hey - - - I made it curvy, that's as close to frilly as it's gonna get around here.

But I didn't stop there! No indeedy - - - check this out:

Here you have our very own LIVE rendition of the bloggerette sisters.

It works - - - first on the left is my flesh and blood "blog lurker" sister, Pam. I am in the middle, and one of our very own Bloggerette Sisters, Cindy of Applestone Cottage is on the right.

I won't EVEN tell you how hard we worked trying to get this picture!
