Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Sunday Rerun - "It Ain't Easy Bein' Green"

.

A big thank you to Chari over at Happy to Design for hosting Sunday Favorites.

Last week on Sunday Reruns I showed you the ironic result of Fisherhubby trying to kill the crabgrass in his yard. Some of you shed alligator tears over that yard. I hope THIS post will make you feel better.

Repairing a Poisoned Yard

(Compiled from posts between 9/14/07 and 10/22/07)

First step to repairing a poisoned yard - - - dethatching. Back and forth, back and forth ONE WAY and then start all over and go back and forth, back and forth the OTHER way. (See the lines in the non-grass?)

Please do not think I am MAKING him work like this on his day off. I would probably save the $$$ and just let the grass (or weeds as the case may be) come back on their own.

No - - - Greg LOVES his lawn and he LOVES the work that goes into keeping it up. So, even though this was difficult, back breaking work - he came in that night exhausted but HAPPY.

Here is the dethatched product, waiting for the first seed to fall.

This is ONE time when it is certainly true that things have to get WORSE before they can get better!!!

Next Step: seeding, watering, and over seeding the yard. This photo was taken during the over seeding phase, as you might guess since you can now see SOME green in the grass.

Let's review:

Greg's poor, pitiful, poisoned, perished yard.

Compared to now when we have this - - -

All his hard work, watering, and LOVE paid off. We're just about the greenest yard in the neighborhood again!

Beautiful lawn! So you guys re-seed every year? You have a great property!

OK I went back and read last Sunday's re-run about killing the crab grass and laughed out loud ----- especially the pictures of the ONLY green stuff being the CRAB GRASS. I swear, when we all blow ourselves up someday, the only things left will be cockroaches, wire hangers, and crab grass.

And maybe my father in law.

The lawn looks gorgeous now. I am not a fussy lawn person, as long as it doesn't look DEAD I am OK with it -- and Howard loathes yard work (took him 25 years to admit that), so we have a rather casual approach to lawn care. If it grows, it stays.

Tell Greg his lawn is awe inspiring, and I'm glad you don't live next door because we'd be terribly embarrassed by our lawn!

Cass
PS Is he kvelling over his lawn?

The grass is nice, but that's just secondary to the HUGE TREE that has fallen in the back yard! What happened there? Is it still there? Did you hear it fall?

Seriously though, the grass looks great and it is a lot of hard work to get it back to lush and green - glad fisherhubby enjoys doing it.

It's unanimous -- the green is great, but just as in a few other comments ... please do tell the story of the tree!

Hey Girlfriend...

Ohhh, I'm so glad that you chose to republish the "continuing saga of the crabgrass debacle"! Hehe! I must admit, I was anxious to see how he pulled that lawn out of the throws of death and...he did it!!! Bravo!!! Girl, your honey DOES have a green thumb...that's for sure! Ohhh my goodness, he sure put alot of hard work into that lawn...it's gorgeous though!

Okay...I have to tell you that I couldn't help but notice that big ol' tree that had fallen over in one of the photos! I hope that wasn't your tree! It was huge...what a shame! Well Darlin', thank you again for joining in with Sunday Favorites...loved this post! Have a wonderful week, Keetha!!!

Love ya,

Keetha, I think Fisher Hubby and my hubs would get on greatly! He loves doing things like this. PLUS, he fishes.
I also enjoyed your earlier post! These are the things I miss about teaching. Your students are fortunate to have you in their lives!

Yeah what the heck is with the huge tree, the yard is beautiful, but the tree is just like hanging up in mid air!

I'm so glad that story had a wonderful middle (not ending as lawn care is NEVER ending).

Hugs!
