Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

I PROMISE it Will Work - - -

I keep seeing more and more short posts by frustrated blogging buddies. They are frustrated because their computers are virus infested, crashing, burning, and need to be tossed into the street. Virus infested computers put a real kabosh on blogging!

Oh, I feel your pain. That USED to happen to me. ALL THE TIME.

But I figured out the problem - - - well, actually it was TWO problems. They have names: Fisherhubby and Number Two Son.

I do not know WHAT they do on the computer, WHAT they download, but I'm here to tell you that a SHARED computer is NO computer because it will continually fill up with viruses.

So, here's the solution:

Get yourself your OWN lappy. Password protect it. Don't tell anyone - - - not even DH- - - the password. NO ONE. Then as long as YOU don't open virus infested e-mails or download from crazy sites, your lappy will stay clean.

Lappies are quite reasonably priced. They can go with you so you can blog wherever you may roam. And best of all, they are PERSONAL - - - they belong to YOU. A password is a marvelous thing.

About six months ago, Fisherhubby called me at work wanting my lappy password. I said, "No way, Jose!" He wasn't very happy - - - but guess what??? LAPPY IS STILL A VIRUS FREE ZONE!!!

I've had lappy for about two and a half WONDERFUL virus-free years.

So, go invest in your OWN lappy. You will be soooooo glad you did.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Thanks for the snappy lappy advice! I have a red one also, about half that size.

I LOVE MY LAPTOP TOO!!!! The idea that I can take it anywhere. and I got one of those Verizon thingys (Verizon is the only company that you can get a modem and pay for it on a buy time as you go as opposed to a monthly fee/2 yr. contract). LOVE IT!!!!

Great advice! I'm the only user of my PC and for the first time ever, ended up with some nasty Trojans recently that my spyware missed! I changed spyware right after computer-geek son connected by remote and helped get rid of the nasty things. Some of the photos the Trojans were throwing on my monitor made me turn as red as your lappy!!

There are a lot of people doing just what you have done. Seems there is a wave of virus going around. I am the only one using my computer, but that does not mean I am exempt from it happening. They are saying it has to do with getting pictures from other places.

You are totally correct....every time one of our sons come home they leave me with a computer problem! They never take credit for it, but it's them! So thanks for the advice!

Good advice Keetha but I also recommend a better quality virus protection product.
Norton is crap as are many other over the counter types.
They are just to easy to get past.
I use a very good protector and have never had any problems and I go to many different sites all the time.
If anyone wants the name of it they can contact me.

AMEN's like the more people at your door the more confusion in your house!

I'm with you on that Keetha - not to mention that I don't have to wait if I've got a great blogging idea!!

and lucky me, I've got a MAC so the chances of my lappy getting a virus is slim - but it does happen!

Just speaking from experience...somewhere it needs to be written down or somebody does need to have the password, just in case something would happen to you. When Nate got sick, nobody knew his passwords and it was awful trying to get banking and bill paying (some of it automatic) staightened out. He was also in the process of buying an engagement ring and we had no idea what company, where it was being sent to and how it was being paid for, etc. I realize that his situation was a bit different (being single with nobody else on his banking accounts, nobody having any kind of power of attorney (medical athourity either). I am just saying some things would have been a lot easier had we known some passwords.

You forgot to say to get a "RED" lappy. :-)

Unfortunatly, I can't blame my virus on hubby or kids (none at home--kids that is).

I'm the only one who uses the infected computer, except when the kids are home, and they haven't been here since before Christmas.

My virus showed up when I was working on something on my Arkansas Bloggers test site. However, I can't say that that's where the virus got in. It could have been lurking for a while, and suddenly it decided to rear its ugly head.

I love my laptop! But I'm not brave enough to tell my husband he can't use it!

Oh I couldn't live without mine. Seriously. I have a problem. Twice this week on Facebook people answered some of those weird social interview questions about me and both mentioned that pretty much everything else could go, but my laptop and internet had to survive. Uh, what are they suggesting?! ;)

yep...I need to take your advice...big time!!!

Or go with Linux. LOL most viruses are aimed at Window's users.

After years of coercion by my children, I switched to a mac and have been virus free for several years.

I think that is GREAT advice. I mentioned to Bryan not long ago that I wanted one of my own. It was not received well. I think I'll have to start saving my pennies :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE the red lappy and the red nails!

I sure would like to have a matching lap top and manicure! :)

LOVE the previous post about your passports and travels! You have been AROUND! I'm envious!

Hope your weekend is super...our snow stopped this morning, but started up again this evening. I'm really tired of the white and cold! Dana

I agree every person should have their own private computer. But, I prefer a desk top to a lappy and they are usually cheaper.

But, if you are going shopping invest a little more and get yourself a Mac. There has never been a Mac infected at of yet. So you can let the guys borrow it on occasion without having to worry.

I have been wanting to do that for a long time but just can't make myself spend the money...might just go for it; We have a desk top from 2004 that we say we are going to use until it dies...thank goodness it is almost there!!

I do not have a lapy, but I do have a Mac. It's been here and shared for 4+ years - and not a virus in sight...

I totally agree. I bought myself my own computer several years ago. I used it until it died a natural death. Bought myself another one...lime green! And, no one uses it but ME! Some things a girl just doesn't lend out!

I haven't had problems with a virus for years, thank God, but for me it's important that someone knows how to access our laptop. There's lots of important financial information on it that my heirs should have access to, if anything happens to me.
