Nancy and her family no longer own this darling little bungalow, but here is a news report about it, STRAIGHT from Nancy via my comments. (Isn't copy and paste wonderful???)
Keetha, Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for the surprise! This is the first time in 54 years that I will not be in Wisconsin at all. My dad & grandpa built that wonderful house, and the people who bought it from Mother love it ALMOST as much as we did. Except for the playsets, different mailbox, and new plants around the front, it looks the same as when Dad was lovingly caring for the home -- even the garage doors are still painted just as Dad painted them. Looking at the pictures, I almost expected to see Dad dressed in his overalls walking down the brick driveway.
I can smell the pine, sense the warm sand beneath my feet, and feel the breeze so much so, that I want to call your sister Pam, and have her come over to go sailing.
By-the-way, the driveway between the house and garage is made of brick collected from the city of Wisconsin Rapids when they tore up the brick streets to pave them years and years ago.
This is "Red Sand Beach" (Duh!)
Where my sister and I spent many a summer afternoon.
Nancy used "White Sand Beach"
(Guess how it got THAT name!?!)
Sorry Nancy - - - I didn't get a picture of that.
