Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

The "No Creative Title" Post Because I've Been Sitting Here For a Half an Hour Trying to Think of One and Can't

.

No creative title, but chock full of eclectic bits.

The other day I posted this photo of BIL Joe and asked if you would trust him. Most of you said you would.

Sister Pam said it reminded her of the days of yore when he used to get his hair permed.

Do you remember those days? Early 80's? Lots of curly perms, mock 'Fros" - - - even on GUYS?

Fisherhubby and Joe, ever the cultural icons, were amongst the permed crowd. This is BIL Joe getting permed.

Yours truly, skinny as a rail and twice as spindly, used to administer the chemicals.

Those were the days, my friends - - - we thought they'd never end - - -

Moving right along.

Last summer I drooled over my friend Gwen's crystal spoon/fork servers to use on a buffet table. I had NEVER seen anything like them before.

Fast forward the old clock to our move to Wisconsin and meeting my new friend Eloise (E-Lois). Low and behold she ALSO had several sets of the exact same silver-servers.

My coveting knew no bounds.

I told her I'd never seen them in any antique shop or anywhere else and if she ever saw any again, would she pick them up for me, I'd be glad to reimburse her.

I didn't really have any hopes.

But low and behold, she found me TWO sets!!! At a garage sale!!! And she only had to pay $1 for the lot. ONE DOLLAR!!!

I have been busy googling them this morning. They are "Princess House Crystal Spoon Servers" worth $30 each. EACH!!!

That Eloise, she is really something!

Now, lets head down to the cave - - - the FBC.

No need for further discussion about the concrete walls - - - remember, we RENT, and it is precisely the concrete walls which render this space a CAVE. Besides, concrete is all the rage these days, don't'cha know?!?

When I moved the Village People and the Country Cousins into the new "not really old but looks old" cabinet, I had method to my madness.

I wanted to make a photo gallery where the Village People had formerly resided. This I have done, using a plethora of old framed family photos. There are still several more which I have not found in our post-move days, but will add them as they surface.

I am quite enjoying my spruced up FBC - - - concrete walls and all.

And finally - - - Eloise "struck" again! She knew I had somehow managed to lose my antique potato masher and that I sorely wanted another to take its place. She walked in the other day and handed me one.

I promptly walked over to the new ladder contraption in my kitchen and hung the masher from the top. Ahhhhh - - - - the finishing touch.

Eloise grinned and said, "I brought you a red one 'cause I THOUGHT you might want to add it to the ladder."

Great minds think alike, and Eloise and I??? We are two of the GREATEST!

HA!

I'm linking this post with Vintage Thingie Thursday at Coloradolady and Thrifty Thursday at Bloggeritaville. It's been a long time since I joined these parties 'cause I'm not really very thrifty!

Fisherhubby must love you alot to have that photo posted! And YES I remember the 'fro'....I had one myself. With naturally curly hair, you can only imagine what a perm did to it! It was H-U-G-E sitting atop my head! Had it's own zip code, in fact. Thankfully those days are gone, huh?

Love those cave photos. And nice bargins!

Noting too creative here today, either. I hope to get outside and play in the dirt. The temp is coming up and the sun is out!

Have a great day yourself.

Hugs
Jan

Love the setup in the basement. Our basement floor is painted...don't ever let anyone paint the floor of your basement. (I want to have ours acid washed)

"we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance forever and a day"

Oh my goodness...that song is now going to be stuck in my head all day...lol.

You really scored in finding a friend like Eloise!! She found you some great treasures.

Love this post, even with no title...it's random and sometimes random is just what we need :-D

Hiya! I had fun reading your post today. I recently came across a couple of those spoon servers after lusting after them for years. Mine were a few dollars each. I thought they were probably valued somewhat higher then I paid. Good info!

Ha, ha I remember when my dad used to get perms. It is so funny now when I think back, but back then we all thought it was great!

LOL! But that picture makes me think of cabbage patch dolls! :-)

So sorry the quality of the perming photo suffered in the transmitting - I should've been smart enough to scan & send. I have just realized that some of our old family photos have also come up MIA with our move. Since I have no more boxes to unpack, I am really perplexed, puzzled and peeved!

I have a set of these glass spoon and fork servers from a long time ago. You are right in that they came from Princess House. When I cleaned out my mothers' house, her set of them went home with me. Now I have two sets. These are great for get togethers. Very thick glass, won't break to easily. Well enjoy them. Decor. Lady.

I especially like that photo of fisherhubby getting a fro. So funny.

Thanks for the choco-info. I'll have to check out that site.

Be well, friend.

It is not the title that is important. It is what is shared in the post. You did a great job combining different things of interest.

I am laughing with familiarity at your perming of hair picture. Back when the "Wisconsin Waterfall" hairdo was actually in style for men and not just a cliche, hubby liked his permed and I complied. Too funny!

Love your new finds, courtesy of your friend!

What a fun and interesting post! What a deal for only a BUCK and you did not need to covet after that! HA!

So glad you got your servers. My brother-in-law would get his hair permed. My husband had naturally curly thick hair. I will have to dig out a picture someday!

Wasn't it fun to see they younger YOU? I have a little trouble picturing FH with an afro, but there's the proof!

I've never heard of your crystal spoon thingies. I'd probably serve banana splits in them. Yay, Eloise!

I loved my 80's perms, but I always thought the guys looked a little goofy with such tight curls. Love the picture of you rolling up the BIL. Ha! Love it.

A dollar?!! Totally, completely thrifty and fabulous!
