Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Hayward Lake, Duck Calls, and Creepy Crawlies

.
Hayward Lake. That's what "they" call it - - - though I simply cannot think of it by that name for, having grown up in Hayward, I know it is simply a widened portion of the Namekagon River.

Nonetheless, "they" call it Hayward Lake. Situated right on its banks is this lovely hotel.

Fisherhubby and I spent last night there as a bit of a delayed anniversary get-away.

Of course, being Fisherhubby, he found time to do a little bit of this - - -

Followed by a whole lotta this.

While we were in Hayward, FH fished in three different spots and caught 6 fish. The following FH anecdote happened during ONE of his fishing excursions last evening:

Last Thursday, FH got a new iPhone. He has been experimenting with various ring tones to see which one he likes. At some point yesterday he set his ring tone to duck calls.

When he left the hotel to drive to another portion of the river to fish, he specifically told me, "I've got my cell phone, if you need me you can call."

After an hour or so of quality blogging time, I got very curious about the success he may or may not be having fishing, so I gave him a call. It rang four or five times and then went to voice mail.

I thought, "he's probably pulling in a big fish right now and can't answer - - - I'll call back in a minute." This I did three or four times with the exact same ring followed by voice mail response.

About a half an hour later he strolled into the hotel.

"Why didn't you answer your phone?" I queried.

"It didn't ring." Says he.

"That's funny, I called you three or four times."

"Hnmmm - - - I wonder why it didn't ring???"

He checked his phone for a bit - - - then looked up at me with a sheepish grin.

"I had my ringer set to duck calls. I kept hearing ducks calling - - - but there were mallards all around me so I thought it was them. Once I heard one right above my head and looked UP thinking, 'how did that mallard get there without me knowing it?' - - - only there was no duck there! I guess it was my phone ringing the whole time!"

So - - - a word to the wise ourdoorsman - - - DON'T SET YOUR RING TONE TO WOODSY SOUNDS. Unless, of course, you WANT to ignore your wife, on your anniversary and all.

This was the view of the "lake" from our hotel window during the late afternoon.

And it was no less lovely as the sun began to - - -

And then did indeed go down.

The view a bit to the left - - -

Left view, sun going down.

View to the right - - -

Right view, sun going down.

We took a leisurely morning and then headed home.

At one point in the car, I felt a creature crawling on my wrist - - - looked down and there was a little tick.

Oh mes amies - - - I GREW UP with ticks. They never phased me a bit.

So, WHY am I feeling creepy crawlies that don't even exist all over me?????

C'est la vie!!!

What a beautiful, beautiful place.

We don't have ticks very bad here in the west like you do in the east. Not nearly as many, you rarely get one. However, when you do get one, they are nastier than the ones back east. Bigger and meaner.

Dang Keetha!
I just saw you tried to call me today via Linda's blog! Shoot! I went to LaCrosse to shop a little but I could have headed to Eau Claire if I knew you were going to be in Osseo.
Oh well,

Happy Anniversary, what a lovely place to spend it. It's nice that you both felt good about spending some quiet time alone, I think that's the sign of a confident marriage (at least that's my opinion.) Great anecdote. My husband is the worst when it comes to turning his phone back on, it could take days if I or his brother don't remind him.

I am in stitches over FH's duck call ringtone. I spit and snorted, and thought, "For once she got him, and she didn't even mean to!"

I agree that your hotel and the setting look just beautiful! Hope you had a wonderful time!

KEETHA, I am so happy that the two of you got away for your anniversary! It looks lovely. That is funny about FH ignoring you. I tell dug that he looks at his phone and says "Oh, it is just Cheryl..." and doesn't answer.
TICKS- ugh. I've had three in me already and Chelsea has had two. I HATE them! and they leave a red, itchy spot this year. I've never known that before.
xo, Cheryl

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Great cell phone story! When my boys were all still home, and cell phones were still new...they would get my phone at night and change the ring tone, so the next day when it rang...I would become majorly bumfuddled. And that's the reason I'm in the shape I am today!

Beautiful place.

It's good to Hayward again! Thanks.

That is the best excuse for not answering a phone call ever! If it was a goose honk rather than a duck there is no way that he would have missed the call!

I am glad you both had a wonderful break, your photos are lovely.
