Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Color Me Unemployed - - -

.

And old!

That terror in my eyes? Not sure if it's more for the unemployed or the old part.

They both make me sad.

It's official. I have taught my last class, given my last test, said good-bye to my last student.

I still have some "end of school activities" posts to make and then I'll be back to dreaming up blog fodder all on my own - - - Maybe Brunhilda and Borris will help me.

I have to go back to school on Tuesday and Wednesday for teacher work days - - - then that is all she wrote.

I have no idea what I will be doing next, except I KNOW I won't be hired to - - -

Drive cars onto these things at car washes.

What WERE they thinkin' when they invented THIS system?????? I stopped at the car wash today on my way home from school. They call this a "guided" system - - - well, their "guide" can't be seen over the front hood, and suffice it to say, if THAT was a test for employment - - - I failed.

Speaking of a test for employment, I dreamed the other night that I was having an interview to be a waitress and "he" told me - - - "You are too STUPID to be a waitress." I was shocked (in my dream of course) and told him I hadn't been too stupid for the past eleven years to teach SCIENCE to middle and high schoolers, six different preps a day, and I really thought I COULD handle slapping plates down on a table - - -

Suffice it to say, I didn't get THAT job of my dreams - - -

To be honest, since my salary is spread out over 12 months (note - - - teachers don't get 8 weeks of paid vacation in the summer - - - some of us just spread the pay of our 180+ teaching days for which we DO get paid (a little) over 12 months) I don't plan to seriously HUNT for a new job until after we get back from Wisconsin in late July.

Soon enough then to face the music of finding a job.

I'd much rather act like an ostrich with my head in the sand and ignore the impending doom until it is well and truly upon me.

It was hard enough hearing how "stupid" I was in a DREAM - - - not really ready to face it while WIDE AWAKE.

Of course, if any of you have a job for me - - - I'm all ears.

:-)

Keetha,,, we are led to think that getting out of our comfort zone is good for us, that we will grow stronger (hog wash). We like comfort zone (I'm speaking of me of course, in the "we" text).
Seriously,,,, there is something out there that awaits you. The "smarter than the car wash" kinda person that you are, with your bubbly, wonderful personality, better and brighter things WILL come your way... I just know it! In the meantime, have fun "chillin"...

Well, Greg & I decided the other day that you'd be a fabulous waitress :) So obviously, your dream boss is an idiot!

I sure hope it goes well for you this job looking thing. I'm still looking after almost a year. Oh well....At almost 60 I feel somewhat semi retired, now if I could just figure out how to fund that... :)

You need a break and vacation. With your education and personality, you will find something else to fill the void.

I am sure that it was hard to say good-bye to your students. Take some time for yourself, enjoy your vacation and I will pray for the perfect job to come to you. You wouldn't want to be a waitress anyway or work at the car wash!
Have a nice weekend.

Welcome to Unemployed Land. Where we use store brand dishwasher detergent and only order off the dollar list at Burger King. :-P

You will find something new and different and wonderful to do -- I just know it. It's in God's Hands. He got you thru all those years of teaching; He'll get you through this!

Meanwhile, enjoy the vacation!

Love, Cass

P.S. I was a waitress for 6 weeks once, long long ago. It ain't the glamour job it's cracked up to be; people talk to you with FOOD in their mouths. Ick.

Enjoy the summer (I still have 4 wks of school left :-( and the kids are "mentally' on vacation already!) You will certainly find something out there - if all else fails, maybe you can write our blogs for us, be an "anonymous author", so we can get our work done and not be distracted by this little ol obsession we all have with our computers!!

Well Keetha, waitressing may have been the job IN your dreams but was never thr job OF your dreams. And doing the ostrich thing of necessity exposes another part of your anatomy to sunburn. You'll just have to teach.

But not yet. Enjoy your freedom for a while.

Don't know any of the children you have taught, but I say 'thank you'
just the same. Thanks for investing in the next generation, and for the confidence and support you have shown them. You will never know how your words and actions will play out in their lives. God bless you!
