I am resurrecting an old post for my double header of Thrifty Thursday and Vintage Thingies Thursday because I'm just out of time and creativity to do a new one.
It's all OK though, because I AM the vintage "thingie" and the outfit I'm wearing was very thrifty, only costing a few dollars at our local Pamida.
You may think whatever I paid for it was WAY too much - - - but I loved it, "back in the day."
And let me just tell you - - - what you wear today will always look foolish tomorrow. Mark it down. It is a truism.
I originally ran this post on August 6, 2008.

I don't "do" facebook, but when I heard this photo of me had surfaced there, I stole it.
Yep that camp chick in the hat and shades is me "back in the day" when I was 40ish.
I was THIN.
And before you LAUGH at the hat - - - wearing that one, and others like it, is why my face doesn't look old and wrinkled today.
;-)

Hey, we were all thin "back in the day."
Can tell it's you - same chin.
Awww! I didn´t know you back then, Keetha!
You might have, Betsy - - - I don't remember exactly how long ago that was!!!!!
I'll check the date on it, but I think it was Family Camp 1993 or 1994......LONG time ago! Love you, Keetha!!!!! Hope you enjoyed that entire Old School album! it has been so fun reading the comments and laughing sooo hard!
Keetha, I HAD to put a comment on Facebook about your outfit. Ask your daughters! Hee hee hee! (I think I dressed the same back then).
Great laughs!
I had a pair of plaid shorts like that.
And I was old enough to know better... I'm just hoping no photos every appear online!
I wish we had family camps. :( My family is just to small.
Kathy - - - I went to facebook and left a reply to your comment - - - you better go see!
Lone - - - the reason this is called Family Camp is 'cause it is for the whole family. We are not all related to each other, rather we are a group of families who attend the camp together. It is our district, Indiana North District of the Wesleyan Church, camp.
However, after years of attending there together we do FEEL like family!!!
OH wow! Seeing this made my day!
Hey, I LIKE the hat. It's the plaid shorts I'm laughing at!
Well - - - if I could still fit in those plaid shorts, by gummy, I'd be WEARIN 'em now!!!!
Please tell me that Keri and Korie would stop you from wearing those!!! Love you
Now Tammy - - - do you know me or do you not? If I decided to wear them, do you REALLY think they COULD stop me?
I still like them.
I just wish I were thin still so I COULD wear them.
All I know is those cabins look a lot like our the cabins we stay in when we go to Canada!
Keetha-I don't know if you remember my love of our Canada vacations. (insert sarcasm).
Amen on the hat! I am BIG on hats for th very same reason!
LOVE that picture, Keetha!
Love that CAMP CHICK look, it is
definitely for VTT! :) Happy VTT!
I like the hat too! I don't go anywhere without my big floppy safari hat in the summer!
I wish that I HAD worn hats like that. WRINKLES galore could be my Bond girl name - the geriatric edition.
I think you look very with it in your outfit. The dark hair threw me though. Your coloring is perfect for blond hair.
DEAR KEETHA,
LOVE THE HAT...LOVE THE PLAID SHORTS...AND YOU WERE REALLY PRETTY BUT I AGREE YOUR COLORING IS WONDERFUL FOR THE BLONDE HAIR BUT I KNOW WHEN THOSE SUNGLASSES CAME OFF EVEN WITH THE DARK HAIR YOU WERE PRETTY......YOUR BEAUTY IS THAT YOU ARE SECURE WITH WHO KEETHA IS AND THAT IS WHAT GOD WANTS FROM US. I KNOW YOU ARE A LOT OF FUN.
THANKS FOR SHARING THE PHOTO OF A YOUNG KEETHA.....WAS THAT A VOLLEY BALL YOU WERE HOLDING...(volley ball and swimming are my favorite sports....the heading of your blog makes me want to just jump in and swim to the shore)
BLESSINGS
HUGS

Happy VTT..don't you love sweet memories like this??
Hope your weekend is a lovely one.
I think all camp girls where hats! I know I do.
o yes
to be a size one again
gosh
id be happy with a size 7
first thing i thought when i saw the picture was that you were smart for wearing the hat!
Great pix! Thanks for sharing!
Fun picture. Love the hat.
I like to wear clothe hats (nice to fold up) with brims, both to keep the sun off and keep my hair from blowing around. Right now I am very frustrated because I can't find my favorite one anywhere.
Oh girls - - - you MADE my day when I got home from school and found ALL your comments.
Here are answers to some specific questions/thoughts:
Julie - - - I REMEMBER how you "love" your Canada vacations. I'm still HOPING you switch to "my" northwoods - - - preferably the same week we are up there so we can do some things together!!!!
Dust Bunny - My M-I-L TRIED to tell me about hats when I was a young 20-something, I didn't listen until I was about 34. She was right of course. Also, I don't THINK of my hair as being blond. I get it highlighted for the DAMAGE so it will have some body and STAND UP instead of lying down like limp noodles all over my forehead.
Debbie - Nope, not a volleyball. I USED to teach the children's classes at Family camp, and in the afternoons we played things like kick ball - - - I believe that was a playground ball.
Cry - SIZE ONE!?! I never was that small - - - what is that anyway??? ONE isn't a size in my opinion. Hehehehehehe I THINK I was about a 7 or 8 in that picture.
Postcardy - I had some cloth hats back in that day too, this one just happened to be straw.
cute hat! I was thin when 40'ish too!
Thanks for checking out my blog, I LOVE the picture in your header.........just beautiful!!
You look like Princess Diana out on an expedition. You do , you do!
And I think your outfit looks comfy:)
Oh Mannequin, you are my new BEST FRIEND!!! No one has EVER confused me for a princess before!
Hats are classy...don't know so much about those shorts, though! :)
That would be a FUN vacation!!
And look, there's Tim Landis standing behind you (with Sheryl). What a guy!
Yeah, I was around then, may have actually been on the grounds the day that pic was taken. Kinda wierd, now that I think about it.
Cute post...boy I wish I was that thin again...yes, the dream still burns deep!! Thanks for participating in VTT. Sorry my comment is so late, I have been out of town.
