Second Annual Miss Kristin Day

.

For the second October in a row, Kristin of "The Goat" stopped in our little old town for a visit. She was wending her way from Jacksonville, Florida to Lansing, Michigan.


We lunched at my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant, La Charreada. Then we came back to my house for some good visitin' time.

Brunhilda and Borris "yucked" it up with her something fierce. BUT, if you want to hear about that, you'll have to head on over to THEIR BLOG to read all about it.

Kristin, it is always sooooo fun to "meet and greet" with you!

What will we do NEXT year when Wisconsin isn't on your way????

College Football Day!!!!!

This is my FAVORITE day of the week - - - College Football Day!!!!

I am just a little over-the-top crazy about College Football. Just a little.

I know the teams - - - and the coaches - - - and the players.


The Wisconsin Badgers are my FAVORITE team - - - here I am, cheering them on to victory - - - kind of.

But I do NOT limit my football watching to JUST the Badgers. No indeedy. Every Saturday I can be found doing this:


Remote control in hand, clicking between at LEAST four college games at a time from noon until midnight!


I dress for my team.


Complete with accoutrements. Accoutrements are very important.


I even have the proper footwear.

When the weather gets too cold for flip flops, I have socks - - - RED socks, or white socks with Badger icons.

I am READY.

So, imagine my horror and chagrin when LAST Saturday at Story Inn there were NO televisions in the cabins.

Oh, and even worse - - - there was no wifi service and my broadband card couldn't get a signal!!!!

Then while walking on the road to take B & B bowling (Did you miss that? Check here) I met the Story bartender. He invited me to come to the bar to watch the ONE AND ONLY TV in the place, he PROMISED it would be set to College Football ALL DAY LONG.

OK - - - so I'm a T-Totaller. A TOTAL T-Totaller. But did I let that stop me?


No indeedey.

I went right down into that bar, ordered a diet coke, sipped away to my heart's content, and watched football!!! (The man sitting next to me, a total stranger, said I should order a "Jack and Coke and hold the Jack" - - - yes, I do know what JACK is - - - it's Daniel's first name.)

One of my children, Keri, snapped this picture because she couldn't believe her mother was in a bar.

Misti, my niece and our very own Klondike Gal Reporter has sent more pictures so that those of us who may not enjoy the Alaskan climate may enjoy its beauty vicariously through her.


Here is Misti with her daughter Carson on one of the many trails around Sitka. Goodness, she's not only hiking those trails but she's carrying all that extra weight too!!!

I think I'd make it about ten steps and then it would be someone else's turn.

I can't get over the GREEN in these photos. I mean, that is GREEN!


This is the bay and Sitka as seen from one of the trails.

Not a bad view, eh?

Sister Pam and B-I-L Joe, Misti's parents, spent some time in Sitka in August. While there, they took a ride on a float plane.


This is the float plane pilot paddling the plane out for take-off.


This is the water in the float plane lake. Crystal clear, clean, and cold.

Be careful - - - don't fall in!


Down in this valley is the float plane lake - - - with a waterfall flowing into it. Again, if it were just a little warmer, I could learn to LOVE that view.


And here they are, Misti and her parents, Sister Pam and B-I-L Joe. This was taken on the day of the float plane ride, and the lake is somewhere behind and BELOW them.

Korie's Wedding Story

..

The three posts below this one will tell our daughter Korie's wedding "Story."

I simiply have too many pictures and too much information to put it all in one post.

I hope you will feel like you were right there with us.

The Site

.

Early on Korie and Chris decided they wanted to have a destination wedding. The site they chose was Story, Indiana.

Once upon a time, Story was a tiny Indiana berg nestled in the rolling hills of Brown County. It is still nestled in those rolling hills, but now it is a Bed and Breakfast Inn.


This was the Story General Store in the 1800's. Now it serves as the focal point of the Inn. The main floor is a restaurant.

Upstairs are bedrooms, each with private bath, which spin off of a sitting area. Everything is completed decorated with vintage items. There is even a ghost - - - The Blue Lady - - - who can be seen roaming the Inn.

This is where all the ladies in the bridal party stayed.

Just out of the picture, on the right hand lower corner,


Is located this path. It leads to the site where the wedding ceremony, rehearsal dinner, and reception took place.

Straight ahead, through the herb garden, under the archway, and to the right was outdoor sanctuary.


People are beginning to gather for the wedding, which will shortly be held just beyond the fence.


On the back side of this rustic barn was a stage where the band played, and beyond that you can see the white tent ready for the wedding dinner..

The Ceremony

Korie's two brothers ushered the guests to their places.


Kyle, our baby, escorting Korie's high school cheer leading coach to her place.


Kelly, our oldest son, helping Megan, one of Korie's dearest high school friends, find her seat.

One very proud daddy walked our beautiful little girl down the aisle,

Where my father, "Peepaw" to the kids, met them and "took over" at the altar.

"Who gives this woman to be married to this man?"

"Her mother and I."

Sister Pam, Aunt Pam to the kids, gave a wedding blessing.

Two pairs of hands clasped together as two hearts became one.

Even Mackinley was awed.

Vows were vowed.

"With this ring, I thee wed."

"You may kiss the bride."

"I introduce to you, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Lance"

He her stable rock, her shelter in every storm.
She his flair, his sparkle, his joy.
