Must be the beach.
And it is - - - but probably not the beach of your imagination. No, THIS is the shore of the Great Gitche Gumee of Longfellow lore.
It was too hot for fish to be lured up out of the cooler deep even by Fisherhubby's bait.
So, we decided to set off on an adventure. Our destination was the shore of Gitche Gumee, "Big Water", Lake Superior.
I took the pain in order to snap these photos for you, my bloggy public. You are worth a million raisin bites.
Fisherhubby, on the other hand, after one brief close encounter of the fly kind chose to stay in the car where he could laugh at my Saint Vitus dance through the parking lot in an effort to rid myself of the nasty critters rather than bring them in the car.
But never mind - - - we were on an adventure and adventures by their very definition have pitfalls of various kinds.
It was a day well spent.

How was the food? What an interesting place!!!
The heat is everywhere. Sounds like a really nice day even with the heat and bugs!
What a fun day, except for that heat. It has been hotter than Hades here too. ♥
Love it -- but sorry about your bites.
I grew up partially just south of Lake Michigan, and I have fond memories of going there.
Few people know this but Longfellow wrote Hiawatha sitting in that bright pink Adorondak (sp) chair.
Inquiring mind want to know where you were on the shore of Gitchee Gumee.
I want to be there too!!!!
I love Lake Superior!
The water is so blue and the scenery is fabulous!
Hugs to you Miss Keetha!

I'm enjoying my North Woods Virtual Vacation! Ever since I read Sterling North's Rascal, I have wanted to visit there.
what fun, did ditch gumee have a ton of yummee gumme bears to eat?
what fun love the diner and sorry about those biting flies, I have got bitten by them while visiting Florida, they are a real pain...
When I asked my husband what Gitche Gumee was he told me and then reenacted the poem by Longfellow. Drums, hand movements and everything, it was adorable.
Bugs. Ew. Don't like 'em. Especially ones that look like raisins.
Wow. An 145 year old Inn. Very cool. I'm sure it had character.
Well, I sure you enjoyed your weekend so much. The water is so blue and the scenery is fabulous, really awesome and superb photographs you shared with us.

It looks like fun.
My wife thinks mosquitoes (not black flies) are the state bird of Wisconsin.
I found many interesting things, especially in your blog discussions. You can use a small transformation of the blog layout though, but the overall design is very good.

Did you happen to get into the water at Lake Superior? That lake never gets warm, so it should have cooled you for a brief moment.
What a great little vacation. Sounds like fun. Love that little bench FH is sitting in at the forgotten table. Cool!
