Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Iced Spam

.

Did you know that Blogspot has done something really wonderful to help all of us ice the spam from our blog comments?

Oh, they most certainly have! Go to your dashboard, click on comments - - - and there, do you see it??? There's a SPAM option!

It is there to detect spam comments that may try to blast their way onto your blog. It shoves them in a private little folder so you can delete them before they EVER pollute your lovely space. It frees you to "enjoy" your spam with crackers and cheese.

Since it appeared in my dashboard, nary one single spam has made it into my comments.

So, if you use Blogspot go ahead, be brave! Try turning off your word verification. Mine's been off for months, and not ONE spam has gotten through. Your commenters will THANK you for one less step. Who knows, you may even get more comments if folks don't have to key in some nonsensical word.

Of course, I don't have any advice for you about stopping comments from your boss, your mom, or even your ornery oldest son. You're on your own with those.

;-)

Oh I KNOW Keetha, isn't it wonderful! No foreign languages that I can't read anyway! Not that I have anything against foreign languages as long as it is about my blog and NOT VIAGRA:)

I don't have word verification and my commenters love it! My Niece reads my blog on her phone and it helps a lot to NOT have to type a bunch of goofball letters!

Enjoy your evening! HUGS!

Thank you, I just went over and took care of that... Now... "I KNOW I'm passing on spam with crackers too"!
Hugs to you,
Donna

Don't you just love it!! I have had my word verification off for many months now and nary a nasty spam...turn it off ladies...makes commenting so much easier!

If any spam does get through you can mark it as spam for the next time.
I have never had word verification on my blog and have only had a handful of spam comments. Delete them right away and they move on.

Thanks for the tip!

I got 2 very dodgy comment notifications that went straight to my 'deleted' folder and I didn't even have to DO anything! They didn't appear on my blog either. Unfortunately 2 notifications (from a highly trusted source) met the same fate. Thanks for this though.

I wonder how they knew?

A few of my posts have been spam magnets. I turned on "moderate comments on all messages over 30 days old" because of the amount of spam they received. I'm very pleased with the new blogger spam program.

I've never had spam in my comments....but I have to approve the comments. Unfortunately that is because of my own child not spam!

Woo hoo!!! Thank you for sharing what most of us hate doing...getting rid of word verification! I tried it on my blog, didn't like it on others blogs, so got rid of it awhile back. I do have comments sent to my email address for approval, but that's no big deal.

You are always so funny Keitha! I did not know this about Blogger and spam.I just might turn off the word verification...

That is a great feature and I'm proud of myself for having noticed it. I, too, hate word verification, and a number of other things that make it really hard to leave a comment. Thanks blogger guardian, however you do it!
