Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Winner, WinnerS, Chicken DinnerS!!!!

.

In the case of "Name the Grand Old Dame" - - -

(photo from econ.ucsb.edu)

The verdict is in!!!

And we have winners!!!

That's right - - - I said winnerS.

You, my bloggy friends came through with name suggestions that made my job of choosing "just the right one" oh so difficult. BUT - - - in the end - - - there was only ONE choice I could make, and I made it.

I had planned to take your ideas to my 6th grade class and let them vote in the winner - - - but for personal reasons which I shall explain later - - - I just HAD to make the decision myself because I was afraid my class would NOT choose "wisely."

I KNEW you would come through for me. I KNEW you would give me the PERFECT name for the "Grand Old Dame" in my header.

But what I did not, COULD not know was - - -

You would also give me STORIES.

Beautiful stories.

Bittersweet poignant stories.

I just didn't anticipate this, and with each new story you sent, my heart was moved and touched in oh so many ways.

So, I have ENLARGED the contest, and thereby added more chicken dinners (aka winners.)

I am in the process of sifting through all the stories to compile THE story of my "Grand Old Dame." I think when I am finished - - - you will be in LOVE, as I am, with the dream that is our "Grand Old Dame."

Now - - - you COULD cheat, go to my contest post, and read the comments to see if you could "compile" the story for yourself. It's O K - - - I give you cheating permission. But keep in mind that the REAL story, the TRUE (albeit fictitious) story will be the one I submit for your reading pleasure.

I will not post the winners until I have had time to write the story. It is my plan to give you story and winners in my very next post.

Until then - - - keep up the good work of posting, commenting, and building our blogging community into a thriving cyber-opolis.

Thanks...enjoyed your blog and your sense of humour. Became a follower and will visit regularly. I am doing a post on signs, mostly ones I have seen, but would like to add your one of the roadworks if that is OK. I love the quotes down the side of the page.
Thanks...enjoyed.

Ok... I REALLY need to get back to blogging. I can't believe I missed this fabulous opportunity to tell you about Edith - a resident at Woodlands Assisted Living Facility. She's 87, but tells everyone around her she's not quite 70 yet. She believes in dressing for lunch and usually comes to the dining room all bedecked in pearls and lace. She also attempts to wear make-up, but sometimes things go awry - she once showed up with cherry red eyebrows! Obviously her daughter Cloe helped make her up for this photo. Edith needs a walker, but refuses to use one. Instead she uses a tall umbrella as a cane. Oh, and DON'T make her angry or that umbrella cane will be aimed at you!
