Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Springing Ahead in My City

.
The calendar says the beginning of Spring is just a week and a half away.  Whether it LOOKS like Spring in your city or not, now is the time for anticipation.

Here's what we do 'round these here parts to anticipate:
.

First we spring our clocks ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time.

I did this mid-afternoon on Saturday so I could start getting psyched up to BELIEVE the time change.

Do you want to hear my whole soap box tirade about how we CAN'T save daylight and about how much I HATE changing our clocks in an attempt to achieve it?

No, I didn't think so, let's move on to pleasanter topics:
.

Here in Central Wisconsin Lenten Fish Fries are also a sure harbinger of Spring.

We have Friday night fish fries year around - - - but during Lent we take these to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL with restaurants, churches, and organizations all offering their own variety.

Fisherhubby and I ate at this fry Friday night.  I had the $7 fry and added a lobster tail for a mere $10 more.  It was DELICIOUS but I forgot to take a picture of it.

Sorry.

Fisherhubby skipped right over the nice little $7 fish fry and went for the jugular - - - the most expensive Delmonico steak on the menu.  Eye yi yi yi, that boy.
.

Speaking of fish, I ate one of these beauties from the land of the golden arches tonight.

This isn't a forerunner of Spring at all, nor is it a paid advertisement.  It is simply my own opinion spurred by the fact that we mentioned FISH.

NOBODY ON EARTH has better TARTar sauce than those little places under the golden arches.  Everywhere ELSE seems to think this stuff is called SWEETar sauce, to which I say YUCK.

I loved my fish at the Friday night fry, but it would have been WAY BETTER if I'd carried in a little pot of golden arches TARTar sauce 'cause I totally couldn't eat Lake Aire's SWEETar sauce.

But I digressed, back to the theme at hand:
.
.
I also put a few touches of pre-spring into my house today.  Since Easter cometh directly AFTER the first day of Spring, I brought out this bunny-in-an-egg cookie jar.
.

Next I took the football eggs out of my chicken basket and replaced them with resplendent ones wearing their Easter colours.

That's British for color, in case you wondered.
.

I even found a few coloured eggs and tiny bird eggs for my swan dish on the dining room table.

Never fear, absolutely no swans, nor bird eggs, were harmed in any of these operations.
.

Last but not least, I dragged out a Spring-friendly throw pillow to bedeck the little spare chair in the dining room.

If you look out the patio door, you will get a HINT about why I'm only showing you INTERIOR signs of Spring 'round here.

If I find one at a good price, I also hope to add a pot of tulips or some other happy Spring blooms to my decor.

These Springing Ahead touches are VERY IMPORTANT 'round my city and my home BECAUSE:
.

This is what we've still got OUTSIDE.

True, it has warmed to the mid 30's or low 40's for a couple of hours on a couple of days - - - but it's gonna take a few days (weeks?) to melt all this snow especially since it's still dipping WELL below freezing at night.

However - - - the other day when it was about 35 degrees out, I DID spy one guy (not a teen either, he was a full blown adult male) out chipping huge ice chunks out of his driveway and ALL he had on his feet were sandals.  Nary a sock to his name.

I wouldn't kid you about a thing like that.

I can't even count the number of teens I've seen sporting shorts and no socks already - - - but then that started back when the high temperature for the day was about 10.

Not that I'm complaining about our snow, mind you - - - I believe I've made myself pretty clear on this blog in the past about how I feel about snow, no?

That's not to say I won't enjoy Spring when it gets here, but it's always a sad time to watch the snow melt away - - -

Sigh.

Now, please join the Sundays in My City party to see what others are doing to Spring Ahead in THEIR cities all across blogland.
.

Today I'm joining Unknown Mami
For Sundays in My City.
.
Please hurry over to Unknown Mami's to see
What others are sharing from their cities.

I grew up in western NY State not far from Niagara Falls. Fridays were always FISH FRY night! We went to anyplace that had good fish and beer for the parents. And something for us youngin' to do - like play with the tons of kids there with their parents.
The fish was always good and crispy and I slathered it with sweet tartar sauce (call me crazy).
Now-a-days, the 'fish' served is not the same....not sure what they are using. And you only get a small portion! How times have changed.
Happy Easter and I hope the bunny brings you lots of chocolate stuff!
We still have some snow on the ground from yesterday's storm, but it's melting fast, altho the ski resorts are getting slammed. I hope to shout....the season is almost over and it's been not a good ski year (again). We've been on our backcountry skis perhaps 5 times and no snowshoeing. The snow wasn't that deep.
You must have been a Girl Scout....you are 'prepared' to weather the time change. It always makes me tired!

We can always count on you to decorate for the season!

I much prefer falling back to springing ahead even if it makes it darker earlier... I like my sleep!

I can't wait for Spring either. I love your Spring touches. I haven't done any of that yet, although I did hide the clay snowman we had out for winter. Great photo of the outside snow, and all those food pics made me hungry!

I am looking for signs of spring in our neighborhood and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing yours.

I can't stand Daylight Saving Time. Seems like such a waste of energy... mine, not electrical.

I've become so accustomed to fresh fish, I can't eat anything that's been frozen. I do prefer a TARTer sauce, and even use Tabasco. I like spicy.

I am with you here... I hate how early Daylight Savings Time begins and I love McDonald's tartar, as well!

Have a great week!

I change our clocks early evening.
I remember some Friday fish frys in Wisconsin. Your decorations look really cute. I guess I should take some of mine out now before Easter comes and goes because everything seems to be going very fast these days.

Your post has made me really hungry -- lol. Of course, it's lunch time now, but I'm not totally positive because I'm don't really know what time it is. I'm not sure if Hubs changed the clocks and whether or not the clock on my computer is showing the right time. Sigh.

Spring is coming Keetha! Thanks for the picks of it because even if we don't have snow here, we have had our share of gray days.

I've never met a friend fish I didn't love! :) But I do not like TARTar sauce or SWEETar sauce.....it's good old ketchup for me ...

Love your decorations.....I almost bought a bunny cookie jar (oh wait, I think I may have one in storage, wherever that might be) but I was afraid I would feel obligated to actually fill it with cookies which I would then be obligated to eat which would have not so good consequences....so, glad I didn't buy or look for one!

Ah, spring.....they're wearing bikinis on our beach. I'll bet they are also sporting goose bumps!

The time change is stupid in today's world.
Getting saucy with your fisherhubby?

In Louisiana, no one suffers much on Friday. It's a feast, not a fast day to eat seafood on Friday in our part of the world.

I'm going to have to find a fish fry close to me -- or I'll just have to go out to Michigan. We had glorious weather today. It may not last, but what a treasure.

Nice spring touches. From the looks of it you may have a long wait for it to reach the outside. I had to laugh when you mentioned the sandals in the snow. When I lived in South Dakota once the temps got above 25 I wore sandals unless I had to actually walk through snow and everyone was always calling me nuts.

Let's just say I would never make it as a Wisconsonian. The few days we consider winter here near Austin are plenty for me!

I'm with you on the daylight saving - never makes any sense to me to put the clocks forward and back. Thanks for visiting my blog.

I am loving the signs of spring! Those little sheep around the bunny cookie jar are precious. I've noticed them before!

:-) I am vegetarian (no eggs even) but I know what you mean about TARTar and SWEETar sauce! Makes a world of a difference to a dish!

Happy Sunday :D Hugs!

There's those nice colorful eggs again! I just brought out my meagre stuff as well since Easter is just around the corner. You will really celebrate when it gets green around your house (grass, not St Pat) .. /have a good week!

Soon I will have to give up hard water fishin for soft water fishin:(

Cute decorations...loving the spring colors.

I also happen to love McDonald's fish sandwiches! Yummy!

Thankfully, our snow has mostly melted and I hope that's it for this season.

Maybe we can steal some daylight from the Arctic Circle when they have daylight about 20 hours a day.

Teens here do the same shorts and t-shirt thing. I think it is their way of willing that warmer temps may arrive soon. Either that or they are still developing mentally.

Sandals chopping ice?? Not only is it too cold to wear sandals in 35 degree weather, didn't he realize he could chop off a toe?
