Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Sunday Reruns - Feelin' Pirate-ish

.

Don't you just LOVE bloggy Sunday reruns!?! Thanks so much to Chari over at Happy to Design for hosting Sunday Favorites.

"Have You Ever Felt Like a Pirate?"
(First posted March 11, 2007)

You know - - - had one of those days that makes you want to go "AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH" multiple times?

I'm having one.

I won't even elaborate on the FIRST three things that made me frustrated.

Here's the LATEST one: I decided tonight on my way home from church to stop and fill up with gas since the indicator light had come on telling me I needed to do so. I stopped at the 'variety' of gas station which I always use, pulled out my little handy dandy credit card. which I pay off monthly btw - - - same vintage as the station - - - and attempted to get my gas.

The machine - - - of course it is smarter than me anyway - - - told me to "see the cashier." I thought that was strange as in the entire TWENTY YEARS I've been using that company and their card it has NEVER told me that before. I tried again. Same
irritating message. So - - -thinking something might be wrong with THAT pump, I backed up to the one behind me and tried again.

No go - - - - still told me to see the cashier. I decided to pump my gas, go see the cashier and see what in the world the problem was. FORTUNATELY, I didn't fill up, but stopped at a dollar amount I could handle if my card wouldn't work for the cashier either.

As I began to walk into the station, a thought struck me (unusual I know - - - but it happened none the less) and I checked the expiration date on my card. BINGO - - - I've been expired since the last day of February.

Nope - - - little teenage cashier can't help me, so I have to use my debit card - - - which I DID NOT WANT TO DO.

Came home, called Greg to see if new cards had come and he had just forgotten to tell me or give me mine. NOPE

Called the customer service number on the back of the card to find out why they haven't sent the new ones and to request them.

Female voice on the other end says, "Ma'am, you are not an authorized card user, only Greg is. You will need to put him on the phone, I can't talk to you."

I assure her that if it wasn't for me she would never get a single check to pay the gas bill, and could I give her Greg's SS# as all I want her to do is send out new cards.

Nope - - - I am persona nonexistent - - - I do not count - - - I am unacceptable, Greg may not WANT new cards. I inquire why new cards were not automatically sent to us. She said they were. I assured her we do not have them. She says only Greg can request them. She does not care that he is at work until 2 a.m.

I hang up the phone, and that is when the uncontrollable pirate urge SWEEPS over me.

So - - - I did the only sensible thing. I came to the computer to tell all of you my tale of woe, and to make that lovely pirate sound:

AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Yes, I've often felt like a pirate, namely Johnny Depp!
Thanks for sharing your tale of woe with us again.

Ahhh, yes, the pirate sound (higher pitched of course, because I am a girl) and for some reason my left eye wants to squint when I say it! Technology advancement/ security issues and me DO NOT MIX! I think it is because I live in Little Town, USA where everyone knows you on a first name basis and I worked hard to have a clean image and then I enter the Big World and I am a nothing, trying to get somewhere without my name actually on something my husband has started. AAARRRRGGGGHHHH! I have learned the hard way...Both names on everything!!!!

I've called back before and given my husbands name. Then when they said I sounded feminine I tell then that it's a curse and I don't really like to discuss it. Then I make sure to authorize myself on that account.

OK, so I haven't done that, but I've really really wanted to!!

You crack me up!

I hope she was polite. I have gotten frustrated with the people that are taking a call that is "being monitored for quality purposes". I am sure I have pushed them to the brink of letting loose with some choice words and losing their jobs!! So it is mostly the othet way around with me!!

Funny post, Keetha!! :-)

AAahhh yes- expired cards... How well I know thee.. I have a problem replacing the old ones for the new. And as I speak, I will pull the new gas card out of my desk drawer and put it in my wallet! ha ha
Usually I call customer service and pretend to have a cold. I talk nasally, cough hoarsely, and tell them I need new cards or that I am activating them. Always works... They often tell me to get well soon!

Ya, go figure. You are authorized to pay the bill, right? Hubby once left his CC at a fuel stop on the road and call home for me to take care of the problem. I called the CC company and canceled the card but I was not authorized for them to issue the new card. Make since of that, I've stopped racking my brain on how they authorize. Have a great week and thanks for dropping in.God Bless

We have had a certain departments store credit account for over 30 years. Hubby opened the account but I have a card in my name. I pay the bills.
I called said company to have them stop sending all their junk mail ads in with my bill, which they listed as an option to do.
They said I couldn't make that decision because it was his account. Give your heads a shake...I have my own card that has a spending limit of many thousands of dollars but I can't make a choice of no more junk mail.
AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGG THWACK !!!!! That was the sound of me screaming and my pirates saber going through the middle of that credit card.

Girls - - - you don't know HOW justified I feel finding out that those companies are equal opportunity wife disrespecters!!!!

Oh, I'm glad you reposted this. That is so frustrating when you can't get info on the credit card that you probably use more often than he does.

I'm dealing with a computer virus that is pretty nasty.

Don't you just hate that? Hmmmm. BTW, I love your sense of humor. Love the comment you left on my Mammy's Cupboard post. LOL!..Christine

If anything like this is going to happen, it sounds like it would pick on you. Sorry for all the frustration, but it is very difficult to deal with any company now. You seem like a person that can handle things pretty well.

Oh, Keetha-that stinks! How frustrating!

Speaking of credit card companies and being annoyed-we actually quit using credit cards about 5 years ago when we took Dave Ramsey's financial peace class and usually just use our debit card. The other week, Craig decided to apply for a Marathon card since you can get 10-20 cent off/gallon and we would pay it off monthly anyway. We got a letter back the other day that we were denied. The reason-according to the letter the expenses to maintain the account would be more than the expected revenue.

hahahahaha. Gotta love credit card companies! (Sorry about the long comment). :)
