Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Four Little Short Frags for a Friday

It's Friday so it's time to Frag. I don't have much, "but such as I have give I unto thee."

I made a slight seasonal change in my decor.

And I don't mean Fall either - - - Autumn doesn't begin (by the calendar and by the sun) until September 22.

Nope - - - I made a FOOTBALL seasonal change. College football begins two weeks from last night.

Somebody in this house is pretty excited. I won't tell you who, but I'll just say SHE even has plans for doing football things to her nails soon.

I got a little something something new to put down in my Football Cave (FBC).

I added the black ONLY myself.

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Can't have any Gator chomping goin' on down there.

Somebody 'round this here place has been watchin' a whole lotta this and even filling up our DVR with it this week.

I won't tell you who it is, but I will give you this one little subtle hint.

Once upon a time, when I was growing up, this was my house.

What?!? You don't SEE a house???

Neither do I.

That's 'cause someone tore it down and put up a parking lot.

I TOLD you I only had four little short frags this week.

It was hardly worth clicking over here, was it?

Well - - - I'm glad you did anyway!!

Now please hurry over to Mrs 4444's place
and see all the Friday Fragments!

There Will Be No Picture With This One

.

It is not often that I make a post that is all serious and deeply reflects what I believe.

This is one of those rare posts. Read on if you are still interested.

Those of us who serve the Lord often do so without knowing how He is using us in the lives of others. We simply serve Him because we love Him, as He first loved us, and we want to obey.

Sometimes the road of service seems a long and thankless one. And yet, we are admonished in Galatians 6:9 -
"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." (KJV)

Every once in a great while, the Lord lifts the veil, so to speak, just a tiny bit and we are enabled to see a glimpse of how He is using us in His plan.

The following quote, which will end this post, is part of an e-mail I just received moments ago. It is one of those veil lifting moments for me. I share it, in a slightly edited form, with you by way of encouragement that you "not be weary in well doing" along the paths of your life.

I want you to know how much I love you. Although I haven't been able to spend significant time with you in years, you remain one of the most influential people in my life. When my mom was sick as I was growing up, you were my mom. When my friend got diagnosed with cancer(they were in the 4th grade), you were my substitute teacher and comforted me. When the difficult issues of my childhood were coming into the light, you were the one who brought the truth of Jesus' healing to my life. Keetha, you have been one of the few constant Godly influences in my life. I have a deep love for you and for your family, for the ministries you've been a part of, for your heart to serve God in any capacity.

Thank you for committing yourself to the call of Christ and thank you for investing in me. You were, are, and continue to be a light in the darkness.

Tomorrow I Have the Gift of Time

.

Tomorrow I do not work at the library.
Tomorrow I do not work at the Shepherd's Loft.
I have one whole day completely off.
Fisherhubby will probably go to "The Pete" to practice his "trade."
I shall have most of one whole entire delicious day

TO MYSELF.

What shall I do with it???

Well, I MIGHT go down and putter around in my FBC.
I still have gran toys to put away from their visit here in June
And College Football Season is just two weeks away
So I need to get my cave READY.
I have one NEW Badger Fan
Item to hang up down there.

I might even work on a jig saw puzzle.

Or, maybe I'll get my College Football Picks games all set up,
I do run TWO of these games you know.

And I'm thinking about adding a third - - -

A girl can never be TOO ready for football season.

Then again, mayhaps I'll just lie around on the couch,
Snooze,
And read a book.

I'll probably blog.

Sounds like heaven.

Whatever I decide to do
It will be a great day.

Why I Do "This" - Reprise

.
This morning as I toodled through my "blogs I follow" list, I noticed that someone had done a post titled "What is a blog?"

That made me remember this post that I did in March of 2009 about WHY I blog.

I thought it might be fun to reshare it today.

So, without further ado, I give you a plethora of reasons why I blog:

Why Do You Do That????

That's what a well meaning,
Kindly soul asked me at church one Sunday.
He was, of course, speaking about my blog.

"Why would anyone want to do that,
Put pictures of their life
And talk about it on the internet
For all the world to see?"
Was his exact question - - -

It gave me pause for thought.
Why DO I DO THIS?
Why do I WANT to???

Others answer this question
In a variety of ways - - -
Some blogs TEACH
Some blogs PREACH
Some blogs are a PLATFORM
Some blogs SELL

If any of that happens on this blog,
It is purely accidental.

I blog because
It brings me great joy.

I blog because
It brings a smile to my face,
And to yours too I hope.

I blog because I can.
I can't dance,
I can't sing,
I certainly can't run.

But I can blog.

It is the bestest hobby
On the planet.

And since I already have my lappy
And my digi cam
And the internet,

It doesn't cost me anything either.
And THAT makes me smile.

Those are all the reasons
I STARTED blogging - - -

But since I started,
I've learned MORE reasons - - -

And all of those new reasons
Revolve around Y - O - U!!!

I blog to get comments
FROM YOU

And to get added to
YOUR favorites list

And to be followed
BY YOU.

And to hear from YOU
That something I posted

On my little ole blog
Brought a smile to YOUR face

Or actually made YOU
Laugh right out loud!!

Because really,
Isn't this blogging thing

All about community????

It is for me!
YOU are my community,
And I LOVE YOU!

That is why I blog.

Wherein Our Son Made the Papers.

.

And not the funny papers either.

You can read all about it here in the Fort Wayne, Indiana Journal Gazette.

And while the story in the Journal Gazette is one of human interest, and our son's personality shines through in the quotes, it does not in any way tell you all of his story, his determination, his hard work at that Pizza Hut.

That store was on it's last legs. When the "powers that be" of Pizza Hut put our son there as manager it was in a last ditch effort to save the store.

Kelly not only turned it from failure to success, but did so in record time.

I always knew he was able to sell sand in the desert.

We're proud of you, son.

NNO in My City

.

NNO, National Night Out, is held each August in our church parking lot. It's a block party, sponsored cooperatively by law enforcement and community, with a purpose.

We didn't have the butcher, the baker, or the candlestick maker, but we DID HAVE:

The mayor,
(Yes, he really IS that young.)

The Sheriff,

The Chief of Police,

Several Canine Cops,

And Rosco P. Rafter, our baseball team mascot.

Activities included:

Making photo ID's for kids,

Law enforcement vehicle "tours,"

(Complete with stuffed animals for the kids)

An obstacle course sponsored by the YMCA,

Face Painting and Removable Tattoos,

Potluck Picnic,

And lots of fellowship.

We found shade wherever we could.

Some of us don't always enjoy having our picture taken for Keetha's blog.

The balloon hats, made by this magician,

Went off with a bang - - -
literally in this case as I managed to catch the hat mid explosion.
