Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Thrifty Vintage Thingies - - - Woodstock Revisited

.
It's THAT time again!!!!
Vintage Thingies Thursday over at Coloradolady and Thrifty Thursday at Bloggeritaville.

Be sure you click on both of the icons or links above to check out what everyone else is posting.

WE INTERRUPT OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAM OF THRIFTY VINTAGE THINGIES TO BRING YOU THIS BREAKING NEWS:

Today on my way home from school, I decided to run into our new, opened in January, Meijer's to pick up a few things. This is NOT a regular stop for me - - - I've only darkened those doors TWICE before.

In the parking lot I discovered my Thrifty Vintage Thingie for this post. It is toooooo good to hold until later, so it is preempting the vintage thingies I already have lined up to post. As you will see, it is DEFINITELY vintage, and since all I did was take FREE photos of it, I think I was totally thrifty too!!!!

And now, without further ado, (pause for effect) I give you:

A genuine '70's Voltzwagen Peace-Love-Joy-mobile!!!! It HAS to be Voltzwagen to be genuine.

Can you believe it???? I think it came straight from Woodstock. Here, let me HELP you see some of it's lovin' features:

Do you see the hula dancer on the dashboard? And check out those seat covers!!! I think that green branch looking thing is actually the ceiling padding drooping down - - - but we won't worry about that when we have all this LOVE goin' around, will we????

Check out the grass skirt curtains. I'm sure they are going to make some of you designer chicks GREEN with envy - - - why, next thing we know you'll be running out to find some of these for your OWN peace-love-joy-mobiles!!!

And what would a peace-love-joy-mobile be WITHOUT a back window full of Beatles/Grateful Dead sticker love????

.

I've been wanting to do a Woodstock post, especially after listening to the Woodstock channel on Sirius a couple of weekends ago. You've given me an idea. I actually have some old record albums from that era.

Good post.

That is one groovy van :) Sad thing is I rode in one of these back when they were new (minus the hula girl and grass curtains)!! I enjoyed your post.

My grandparents had a similar vehicle in the 60's, but it was not a love vehicle. Ha! It was used for church duties. :)
Thanks for sharing!

Keetha... I saw one of these same vintage thingies driving down the highway while in California last week... and I wished I'd taken a photo... but mine, not nearly as put together as yours.... whats really-really scary... I just realized that I'm a vintage thingie too.... I remember the VW Buses... and riding in them.... yikes!

Wow, man.... I love the sticker in the back "God bless the Freaks!"

I never heard them called "Voltzwagons" but it sure is cool. I love to photograph old decorated vehicles too.

WOW! now that is vintage. That is a rare find. It is in such fabulous shape. Someone put a lot of refurbishing into that one, I bet...Thanks for the blast from the past. :-)

You your find on the parking lot really made an interesting and neat post for today. I had almost forgotten about those cars. Nice job.

Oooooh, I love it!! What a fabulous mode of transportation! Surrounded by hula magic. What a spectacular color. I love the "taking a picture" kind of thrifty. You know that's the way I do it :)

I also love where you found it -- I'm a Meijer girl. I grew up living behind one, I don't have one near me now, I miss it - daily, everytime I go home to Michigan I go to Meijer -even if all I need is a stick of butter.

It just shows you that VW made vehicles that were built to last! I'm surprised at how many I still see here in the UK but when you get stuck behind one its not much fun as they dont seem to be able to go much faster than 40 mph!

Holy Cow - does this ever bring back memories! My good friend had the same bus in orange in the late 60's - he put mushroom curtains in it and called it "Happy Trails"!! Thanks so much for sharing this!
Cheers!

How SWEET!!! My dad bought an orange one for our family in the early 70s. It was horrid for my mom to drive, the gear shift was just not right.*G* However, it was the coolest ride I'd been in since their '68 Cougar and '42 Willys. I've always wanted to get one but have had to settle for what we can get when we have a crisis, lol.

when I was a little girl, my dad had an old friend...and I mean a very old man...who had a van like this. We went fishing with him a few times...I always think of him when I see these great old vans! Love the post today!!!

Oh my gosh, you are taking me back..., taking me back...
I didn't have the bus but I had a bug; a 1965 bug. It was brand new and I learned to drive a stick shift in one day, on the steep north-side of the University of California in the Berkeley Hills.

I always wanted a VW bus though. I wanted to live in one, on a commune in Mendocino Co. Never got there. I just kind of grew up.

Thanks for the memories. It was a wild time.

Holly said...

Hee hee, that is great. I have a friend who wants to get an old bus like that and spruce it up.

That is great! Love it!!

I miss Meijer's-I used to go all the time in Columbus when I was in college. Sadly, the nearest Target is 45 minutes away from where we live, the nearest Meijer-well, I don't even know!
