Today I'm sharing some things that were given to me, so that made them a really THRIFTY deal for me!!!
This glass paper weight was given to me by one of my students one year for Christmas.I remember my parents had a glass paper weight and this one gives me that same nostalgic sensation, so even though it is not itself vintage, it is vintagesque.
This lead crystal footed fruit bowl was given to us as a wedding gift. Since our marriage is definitely vintage by now - - - I think that makes this dish qualify!!!

What do you think THIS is??? My dad brought it home from an estate sale (I think) when I was a little girl, so it is definitely vintage, but vintage WHAT?
It's a knife holder to keep the carving knife up off of the tablecloth to keep the tablecloth clean. Pretty cool, huh? (Nope - - - my Cutco knife isn't vintage, CLASSIC maybe - - - vintage NO.)
Carnival Glass TumblerThis tumbler came out of a box of soap powder back in the 50's. It was the only one like it we ever had. (And I've never seen another anywhere, even in thrift or antique shops.)
As a child it was my favorite, so a while back my parents gave it to me.
I haven't been able to find out if it has any value or not - - - but to me it is PRICELESS!!

Great post! I have this ONE glass that I love...it was 1/2 price of 25cents at an estate sale. No pricless sentimental value but, I LOVE it! I adore the footed crystal bowl...nice.
My friend cut her finger last week on her "cutco knife", so, that's what they look like!

I'm not much for carnival glass, but yours is so different that I love it :) Lately I've become a fan of footed bowls, so love that and the crystal knife rest! I love VTT!
Oh, I remember towels coming inside powdered laundry soap. They were thin and wimpy but as I recall they were the only towels we had.

I thought you were going to have a contest to guess the knife holder. Ooh, ooh, I knew the answer, but as I scrolled down, you gave it away. Mother had one just like the one pictured.

A knife stand hmmm. Can't say that I have one of those. I eat with apes anyways so one more knife on the tablecloth won't make a difference. Do you have something to keep the food off the walls?
One of our relatives had the crystal knife holders and individual salt/pepper shakers to match for her family dinners. Such a touch of elegance!
That's a very ingenious thing that knife holder. I remember my grandmother having a lot of carnival glass bowls when I was a child. When she died a few years ago, we sorted her house out and they were nowhere to be seen. I don't think she appreciated vintage stuff and probably threw them all away!
Your footed fruit bowl is gorgeous! I've seen cloths that were made to place your dirty carving knife, but not a piece like that. It is very cool!

I love that Carnival glass; so pretty!! As for the crystal dumbell.. I can't imagine needing more than a few plates, bowls, glasses, and utencils!
My Mom has a fruit bowl much like yours but with glass prisms. I like yours better. Elegant but not fussy.

My first thought about the knife holder was that it looked like the door knob my grandfather used to have on the door of his study. Cool looking! I had no idea there was such a thing as a knife holder.
But, I AM familiar with Cutco knives. I used to sell them. :)
