It's THAT time again!!!! Vintage Thingies Thursday over at Coloradolady and Thrifty Thursday at Bloggeritaville.
Be sure you click on both of the icons or links above to check out what everyone else is posting.
I'm a "day late and a dollar short" today - - - but here comes my post anyway!!!
This is my "Christmas Baby Doll," so called for the very original reason that she was my Christmas present when I was in Kindergarten.
I'll never forget that Christmas. My sister and I awoke, and thinking our parents were already up we headed down the stairs. About halfway down, we heard our dad calling us to come back up.
He asked if we saw the tree at the bottom of the stairs. I answered that I did. He said, "what did you see?" I replied, "I saw a pink doll for Pam and a blue one for me." I was right.
Isn't she a beauty? She's wearing baby clothes that our daughter Korie wore, about 12 - 18 month size.
I've already shown you that she makes a GREAT wig trimming stand for blue mylar wigs.
This is my OTHER thrifty vintage item for today.
Nope - - - not the senior picture of Kyle, who returns from Sweden TOMORROW btw.
Nope - - - not the Willow mother-daughter figurine, though I certainly DO love that.
Nope - - - not the tea cup, though tea cups ARE up there on my list of favorites.
It's the little table which is ACTUALLY a - - -
Sewing machine cabinet.
Not just ANY sewing machine, but the one that belonged to my Grandma Butcher. I used to use it, but since I really do HATE to sew, now I just keep it for its beauty, sentimentality, and nostalgic value.
It is not a treadle sewing machine, it has this pedal which is mounted inside the cabinet at just the perfect height to be operated by your knee.
Oh - - - the DUST on that pedal, that's vintage too, and I threw it into the post at no additional charge, 'cause that's just the way I roll around here.

If I had a sewing machine like that, I think I would use it even though i haven't sewn in years.
Oh the old sewing machines are so pretty. I remember my mom's well. And the beautiful wooden case it came in with a lock on the side that actually needed a key.
Okay my word verification is prebra and that is usually what I am in this hot weather. That sucker isn't going on until the last possible moment.
I am LOVING your dust! I am thrilled about your dust! I respect your dust! I don't feel so alone now.
Did you post about something else?
Oh! And the other stuff was cool too :)
The dust makes me feel right at home!!! Love your baby doll treasure. What nice memories.
I knew exactly what that was. It should have been a contest. I have one two only mine is in a decorative cabinet and was used by my grandfather who was a tailor.
I certainly didn't pick up on the sewing either! Love the doll.
Also, I finally made your Vigo recipe and loved it. Thanks
Thanks for sharing these two nice family pieces.
Sweet doll,
love the sewing machine too!
The clothes that the doll is wearing look an awful lot like some baby clothes I have around here -- hmmmm, I wonder if they are similar.
Love the little Christmas morning conversation that you remember.
I've got a treadle here at my place with probably as much dust on it as you showed us -- Ahhh ain't it grand lol
I've missed you.
Kristin
How fabulous, you kept something that you were given at that age. You must be a careful person... I would have ruined it for sure by now.
Lovely post, and a lovely machine...Keetha, you should really learn to like to sew, it is ashamed to let that great machine go unused!! Have a great VTT!
Your posts ALWAYS cheer me up. Thank you for that! Except, now I miss my grandma's...but that's ok, it's good to think of them regardless.
Your sewing machine makes the perfect vintage stand. Thanks for sharing!
The blue wig on the doll is a litttttttle creepy! But I love the sewing machine cabinet and the sewing machine, but mostly I love the dust!!!!! That's because I have so much at my house.
Love your sweet baby doll..and I also love, love, love the sewing machine. It's wonderful. Happy VTT..have a lovely weekend.
That picture of the baby with electric blue hair is insane! Of course, I love it but it just seems so out of character for you. Oh my.
Are you okay sweetie?
Really; that picture is amazing!
Cool sewing machine! I think vintage stuff is supposed to have dust on it. It adds to it's charm.
My grandmother had a sewing machine cabinet just like that, with the pedal you work with your knee. It housed the machine I learned to sew on when I was a teenager. Gee, I must be an extremely old person! Loved your Christmas doll - I collect dolls but I don't have many left from my childhood. So great that you still have her!
I LOVE the vintage dust on the peddle! LOL! Keetha, You are preserving such memories for your fmaily in your blog! I just enjoy hearing the hostory you add to your finds. Its awesome! Great loved pieces my friend! Thanks for linking up this week!

You are right, it is sewing machine posting time for VTT this week. Thanks for visiting mine. Even though I didn't have dust on my machine, I have plenty of dust in other places around here. LOL!
super cool sewing machine! its ok if the machine has some dust! thats norm.. i guess.. hehehe happy belated VTT
Oh too bad you hate to sew Keetha-that machine needs to be excercised!
PS. LOVE the bears, too cute!
So relieved to see your dust! And I'm worn out from starting school too! Actually, if you hadn't said it was dust, I would have thought someone went happy with spray paint and the pedal got misted.... :)
