We were coming back to the cabin from town late this afternoon when WHAT to our wandering eyes should appear - - -
Oh my goodness - - - it was sooooooo exciting it's a wonder we didn't BOTH pee our pants. (Now I KNOW that isn't ladylike or genteel to say - - - but it's just ALL there is TO say at this moment.)
Fisherhubby saw mama first. He stopped the truck and we just stared at her. She was peeping out of the side brush and looked EXACTLY like a black cut-out silhouette. EXACTLY.
In fact, I asked fisherhubby if someone had come to the road while we were in town and stuck up a silhouette just to fool us, 'cause you know all these northwood folk KNOW we're here and they KNOW we're tryin to see bears, and they KNOW it would be really funny to trick us.
Anyway - - - about that time she turned her head, and I kid you not, she looked BOTH WAYS for traffic. Then she ventured out into the road, turned and BECKONED - - - oh yes she did. I'm not quite sure HOW she beckoned, but BECKON she did, to her cubs and out they scampered to follow her across the road.
And THAT is the first picture.
In the second picture, mama had stopped and was using her nose to nudge those little cutie pies into the brush on the other side of the road.
I don't know WHY my pictures aren't a better quality - - -may have something to do with the fact that I was shooting them through a smudged and dirty windshield, or perhaps I was too excited to know what I was doing, or perhaps it's because I was trying really hard NOT to pee my pants, or perhaps it's just my failure as a photographer. BUT - - - at least I caught this much evidence.
Whew - - - and now my fingers are out of breath from all that EXCITED keyboarding.

Didja mean to post any more than "Oh My?"
Wow triplets. I don't think that is very common. You have become "one with the bears" I think Keetha. How Zen.
That is so cool!
OH MY!!! How awesome! I would have totally peed my pants and probably taken WAY worse pictures, if any!!
Molly
That is awesome! We go to Pigeon Forge often and have always wanted to see bear and haven't! I'm so glad you got that experience!!
so im super jealous! thats awesome
So! Cool! Would love to see that someday. And she has three cubs. That's great.
Are you sure mama bear wasn't sticking out her thumb?
TOTALLY COOL! HOW awesome is that!
DId your bears scamper off to see them? Perhaps another fmaily reunion?
Leigh, I was so busy trying to get pictures I didn't have time to get Borris and Brunhilda out of my purse, so nope - - - they didn't get to see their live cousins.
Oh so NOW it's safe to go out in the woods today at my house? you've got the bears there? the only evidence I get it poo!
Those pictures are just the CUTEST ever!!! So glad you got to experience that.
How wonderful to be able to see wildlife like that. We have nothing anywhere near as exciting in England. You did well to get such good photos. If it had been me I would have panicked and dropped my camera or something stupid like that!
Keetha,
That is so exciting! I think the pics are great as a remembrance of what you saw.
Thanks for the science lesson about the 'dry fruit'.
Can't imagine animals picking those up on their hide as they were about 3" long. (forgot to mention that in the post)
So, do the vines have some kind of flower at some point?
Fruit? "Dry" or otherwise? =0))
Thanks again. It was quite fun for me, and love how the Lord uses things like ta to speak to our hearts. (another post).
blessings,
Barbara Jean
Oh, you lucky, lucky girl! I can't remember the last time we saw a bear up there, let alone 4!! So jealous...
So cool!
How exciting Keetha! Reminds me of when we were up North, scouting for Moose...when the Adult appeared and then 2 young ones...it was breathtaking! Looks like you are having a great vacation...Enjoy!
Oh, how exciting! In one picture it looks as if mama bear is looking at you saying....this far and no further, you two!
I am so glad you were able to get some pictures. I only wish you could have gotten a video as well so we could all see the beckoning too.
How cool is that?! The mama is one thing, but all of those babies! So fantastic!
XOXO
*Tricia
wow!! that is so super cool!!
and yes, the beans were tasty. I think they were tasty because they came in a brown bag though ;)
That's pretty amazing!
I THINK I PEED MY PANTS I WAS SO EXCITED FOR YOU THAT YOU GOT TO SEE THAT UP CLOSE AND THAT I GOT TO SITTING HERE AT MY COMPUTER!
THE BEAR COUPLE I HOPE WERE NOT ON THERE HONEYMOON SOMEWHERE IN THE CAR AND NOT HAVE GOTTEN TO SEE THERE MAYBE RELATIVES!
OH WHAT FUN!
OMGoodness, OMGoodness! That's some exciting stuff to find!! I'm so happy you got the photos you did because I'm right with ya, I would have totally thought I'd pee my pants. Goodness, you are full of adventures this trip!!
I would have peed my pants, then dropped the camera in the puddle at my feet and ruined the camera and no one would've believed me that I saw a Mama Bear and 3 Cubs cross the road.
All things considered, these are great shots!
I am literally LOLing at this post so hard I almost peed MY pants. :-) How cool that you got these photos!!
I've been enjoying catching up with Boris and Brunhilde's adventures, too. Congrats on the nuptuals. Are they registered? Perhaps at the Yellowstone gift shop? :-)
