Nancy and her family no longer own this darling little bungalow, but here is a news report about it, STRAIGHT from Nancy via my comments. (Isn't copy and paste wonderful???)
Keetha, Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for the surprise! This is the first time in 54 years that I will not be in Wisconsin at all. My dad & grandpa built that wonderful house, and the people who bought it from Mother love it ALMOST as much as we did. Except for the playsets, different mailbox, and new plants around the front, it looks the same as when Dad was lovingly caring for the home -- even the garage doors are still painted just as Dad painted them. Looking at the pictures, I almost expected to see Dad dressed in his overalls walking down the brick driveway.
I can smell the pine, sense the warm sand beneath my feet, and feel the breeze so much so, that I want to call your sister Pam, and have her come over to go sailing.
By-the-way, the driveway between the house and garage is made of brick collected from the city of Wisconsin Rapids when they tore up the brick streets to pave them years and years ago.
This is "Red Sand Beach" (Duh!)
Where my sister and I spent many a summer afternoon.
Nancy used "White Sand Beach"
(Guess how it got THAT name!?!)
Sorry Nancy - - - I didn't get a picture of that.

Wow! That is heavenly... I am an original Michigan girl and spent every summer in my wee years through high school at "the cottages" each of my grandparents (both sides) had in northern Michigan. This looks similar. THE BEST MEMORIES!! Thanks for the pics. I bet you miss those days too...
Oh my, what a lovely view! I want to live in a house on a lake!
Thanks for the update. I just finished reading "Loving Frank" a novel about the relationship between Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamah Borthwick (sp.). Of course, much of it is set at Taliesin. I really think I need to visit Wisconsin, one of the states I've never been to.
How wonderful to have shared that memory with your friend. What an amazing view. I would love to wake up to that every morning.

Keetha, What can I say? Thank you AGAIN! I can smell the pine, sense the warm sand beneath my feet, and feel the breeze so much so, that I want to call Pam and have her come over to go sailing. I was attempting to make a trip to WI at the end of the month, but it didn't work out. Now, after reading your posts, I don't think I can go a year without visiting. Somehow, sometime, I need to schedule a trip.

So not only a cute house but that beautiful lake across the street.
What a great way to grow up!

What a sweet cottage! I'm glad that Nancy has such sweet memories of all her good times in that home and on that beautiful lake.
There is nothing like lake life and I am so blessed to have it. I wish your friend Nancy much happiness where she is now!
