Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

The Klondike Gal Reporter

.

My niece, Misti, and her husband, David, moved to Sitka, Alaska where David is stationed with the Coast Guard.

Of course their darling little cutie pie, Carson, is there with them too.

As they were still settling in, Misti texted this photo to her mom and I usurped it for a blog post.

One day this week when my blogging creative juices were at an all time low, I REMEMBERED this photo, and knowing Misti's fun spirit, a blogging plot began to develop in my undersized brain.

I asked her, and she has consented, to send me Alaska "stuff" from time to time for us to "share" at The Eclectic Company.

From thenceforth she, Misti, will be know on these posts as The Klondike Gal Reporter.

Now, without further ado, here is the first Klondike Report:

An adventurous, red blooded male simply CANNOT live on a small Island in Alaska WITHOUT having a sturdy reliable fishing vessel by his side. Here is David's. With it he can catch more of these:

That's a king salmon. If you think it looks cold there, you would be right.

This is Mount Verstovia, which the Klondike Gal sees from her bedroom window, when the fishing vessel isn't blocking the view.

(I SO added that blocked view part in myself - - - I don't even know if the boat is parked anywhere NEAR the bedroom window.)

Oh for such a view!!!

A vista as viewed from the Harbor Mountain Trail.

One may not enjoy summer HEAT in Alaska, but the views are absolutely stunning and go a LONG way to making up for the cold.

Finally, this is Mendenhall Glacier.

Thank you, Klondike Gal Reporter, we do so look forward to our NEXT installment of your life and times in Alaska!!!

As tired as I am of this 90 degree weather, I'm not sure I could handle Alaska. The pictures are beautiful though, maybe a visit would be more to my liking...

KGR's Mom here: You were close on the boat's parking place - it's on ground level near the bdrm windows. In our 10 days there, we never saw Verstovia that clearly from the ground to the peak - usually there are clouds hanging about somewhere if not everywhere. If you'd like to visit Sitka in warm weather & sunshine, RUN, do not walk to the airport! There has been a weather alert issued because they are expecting no rain and 60+ degree temps for the next several days.

This Alaska report is a really fun idea! I couldn't take my eyes off that glacier, and had to enlarge it. I'll check back in for further reports...:)

They might go a long way to make up for the cold, but they don't go far enough for me!

Wow -- that is some FISH. I can't let Howard see that ...

A boat AND big fish? His dream.

What spectacular countryside. An amazing country, the US of A.

I love that view as well...and I would love the fishing boat but not in cold weather like that. Although that's a nice catch there.

Great pictures and awesome views, but what I'm wondering is if David throws his fish back into the water, like Fisherhubby does. That fish made me want to run out for bagels and cream cheese.

Maybe a little stop at the smoker (for the fish) first. Yum!

Loved my little excursion to Alaska this morning! Alaska is on my "Bucket List" so someday I hope to visit in person. Have a great weekend!

Oooh, I love the new feature to the Keetha blog! That's one big fish. I hope he didn't release that fish - I bet it's quite tasty :)

Oh and MSU is being shown on ESPNU at Noon Eastern time - for us it's on channel 700 way up in the stratosphere of the channels, but it looks like we get it.

I believe I could actually tolerate Alaska's winters (and every other season) for salmon and views. Great photos Klondyke Gal Reporter!!

Best,

We went on a cruise to Alaska last spring--including a stop to Sitka! We loved the trip--it was wonderful and the weather was perfect in ever way!

My BiL lives is Saskatchewan where they seem to have long snowy cold winters so he spends Jan-April in Arizona. All I can say is it's OK for some!
