A Post With LOTS of Testosterone

David, our Nephew-In-Law, is a Coast Guard rescue helicopter pilot. I posted about one rescue he worked here.


After dinner Thursday evening, he gave us the "royal" tour through the Clearwater Coast Guard complex.


This ceiling fan embodies the saying "Go big or stay home." I won't even tell you what it's called.


The circles on this map indicate the area that the Clearwater Coast Guard "works" when a rescue or seizure is needed. That's A LOT of space for which to be responsible, don't'cha think?


These are the vests that are worn during a rescue. David said the first thing he had to learn was how to SWIM while wearing one of these.


I don't know how many pounds it weighs - - - but hubby isn't really letting you see how heavy it is. Let me just say that if I was thrown into water wearing one of these I would never ever surface again on my own. Never Ever. I couldn't even hold it without dropping it.


Here is David standing in front of one of the birds which he flies. I was impressed.


And this is the plane that also works rescue missions. It is used for spotting as well as for carrying and dropping rescue supplies.


This is the back portion of the plane which can open to lower a payload. You know, just like they did with the elephant in "Operation Dumbo Drop."

Oh yah, I don't have a CLUE.

Neither does hubby,
But don't tell him I said so!!!

Though I have never personally needed rescue,

I am certainly grateful to those who
Put their lives on the line
Each and every day to save others.

The service they provide is priceless.
