"OCD Pet Peeves"
(First posted May 5, 2007)

***Crooked pictures on restaurant walls. (I've been known to get up, cross the floor, and straighten them!)
***Major spelling, grammatical, and factual errors in church bulletins or other printed programs --- even worse when I find them in a novel, what WAS that editor thinking?
***Cupboard doors left hanging open so any mess "hidden" on the inside will show to the entire planet (my children know this about me and do it on purpose to drive me crazy - - - it works)
***Students rearranging my "stuff" on my desk (yep - - - they also do it on purpose to see me melt down)
***People who have lived with me for 32 years, or their entire life, not knowing where the clean dishes go when they empty the dishwasher - - - it's NOT rocket science, nor does it CHANGE from week to week.
***Serving dishes at a buffet style dinner at MY HOUSE not being arranged in a symmetrical, eye pleasing manner on the kitchen island. We have video evidence of me moving food a fraction of a centimeter to achieve this goal - - - which video elicits howls of laughter from my family. (Watch out children 'o mine - - - you'll be JUST LIKE ME someday!)
I'm sure there are many more - - - but these will do for a start!

We all have these issues. I moved the tablecloth 3 times yesterday morning while setting up for our Thanksgiving dinner today.
Hey don't forget my Writer's Challenge started today. Link in.
I can totally relate to your list. Sometimes I think I drive others a bit crazy because things need to be in just the right spot, cabinet doors need to be shut, pictures need to hang straight, and on and on. Thanks for sharing! ~ Sarah
#2 is my absolute biggest pet peeve. The ones that get on my nerves the biggest are the TV folks. They butcher the king's English constantly.
Don't you just LOVE those videos that make your children laugh at your little idiosyncrasies?
I am always glad to entertain my kids with that one video of me groggily asking my adult children and their spouses if they knew what time it was on that Christmas Eve/Morning at 3:30, when they were laughing loudly enough to wake me up.
What a funny post! Gosh, many of those I can attest to! Ok ... all of them, even the kitchen island flowing properly. :o)
Have a great Sunday!
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
Oh man, I can totally relate to you on several accounts. The pictures and the cupboards being left open AND the dishes being put in the right place. Gee Whiz, it's not like I rearrange my dishes every other week or something.
Great week to ya!
Hi Keetha...
Hehe...Girl, don't you just love being OCD! It keeps me such good company!!! Ohhh yes, I think just about all of the pet peeves that you listed...I share! I'd like to add one more to the list though (and I have a feeling you'll know just what I'm talkin' bout!) Leaving dresser drawers open and not bothering to shut them after they're finished!!! OMG...that one drives me absolutely bonkers and I must confess makes me down right mad!!! I have ranted and raved a few times over that one! I mean, that's just plain ol' laziness in my book! Hehe!!!
Thank you for sharing this post with us for Sunday Favorites...I feel so much better knowing that I'm not the only one!!! Hehe!
Hope that you're having a super Sunday, my friend!

I think we all have own little ways of doing things. I am big on organization. You do not have as many when you are alone. You just do your own thing and it stays that way.
That was so funny!!! Why is it that family members can't remember where clean dishes go out of the dishwasher, yet they know exactly where to find the clean dishes in the cupboard when they want to eat. I could never figure that one out. I have the same problem in my house. You would go crazy in my house as the pictures on my family room wall are always crooked. My son always bangs the couch against the wall & they move. I'm always straightening them out. I'm about to glue them to the wall. I enjoyed your list, and enjoyed the laugh even more. Have a good week.
LOL, I can relate. I went to an attorneys office with my boss the other day for a closing and I almost got up from the closing table and went over and straightened the pictures on the wall! They were unbelievably crooked!!!!!
Growing up NO one in my family shut the cabinet doors (including me). Now that I have my own home, I can't STAND for them to be left open!!!
Best one yet is the dishwasher. Amen sister!
My brother used to open the cabinet doors in the kitchen (which I could see from the living room) and then come sit next to me. He would just wait and see how long it would take me to get up to close them. I am glad I could be a source of laughter for him.
I SPELL BAD ALL THE TIME ON MY BLOG RESPONSES, DO YOU STILL LIKE ME WRITING TO YOU? HEE HEE
I think you and I would get along just great.
You know what else I hate? Empty or almost empty containers left in the fridge or cabinet.
#1, #2, #3 and #5... I totally agree!
There is this restaurant in Jacksonville that has there niche boxes inset into the walls. (I guess that's why they are called niches! lol) anyway, all of them are crooked. One is seriously crooked. They are BUILT into the walls! I can't eat there anymore as it drives me crazy.

I've read your re run posts before and this is the first time it occurred to me "Hey, this is a good idea. Maybe you should play along."
Of course, come Sunday I won't remember.
I promise to never rearrange your stuff.
Oh, I'm guilty of leaving cupboard doors open all over the whole kitchen. Then Mulletman comes in and WHAP hits his head on one (I'm too short to have that problem) and the doody hits the fan...
BUT, I am with you on the moronity of people never knowing "where this goes" when they're putting away the dishes. I try not to resort to vicious sarcasm, but...
