Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

If You Don't Want to Read Griping - - -

.

Then just toodle along to the NEXT blog in your follow list.

If you're still here, then here comes my current BIGGEST pet peeve:

Who dreamed these up??? Not only are they robot copy proof, they are ALMOST human proof too.

I HATE them.

Especially on a blogger blog. Blogger has this lovely anti-spam feature now which catches 99.999999999 percent of all spam so it never makes it onto your blog. (That little factoid is straight out of my head based on my own experience and on absolutely no other data.)

Since Blogger put up the anti-spam feature, nary a SINGLE spam has made it into my comments. Nary one.

If one DOES slip through, there's this handy dandy little trash can under it that can be clicked and VOILA - - - the comment is GONE.

If you don't want a spam in your comments even for a short time, you can go into your comment settings and check that you want to approve every single comment BEFORE it is published to your blog.

All these things make Word Veri nearly useless.

But, for those blogs still using word veri, instead of it being one slightly complex progression of letters, it is now this new two word monstrosity which is nearly impossible to deal with.

I simply cannot READ the word with the "blob" behind it.

I've been giving three attempts to publish my comments on blogs sporting this, and if all three fail then I leave them commentless.

BUT - - - my patience with it is getting really thin. I think from now on, if I see this nasty little piece of work I will just trundle along, leaving that blog commentless, without even ATTEMPTING a comment.

And I just KNOW that all of you really care about my comments and will shed huge alligator tears without them.

I just know it.

Evidently I'm not the ONLY one who feels this way, judging by what is being said in the comments of this post!

TEAR DOWN YOUR WORD VERI'S!!!! Pretty Please????

All words in this color font were a later addendum.

Oh girl, I know what you mean about how hard it is to read the shaky blob word.
I don't use word verification on my blog, but I read each comment before it posts. So go ahead and comment on my blog, it's easy peasy. I have a book and soap give away going on.

I am with you! You are more generous than I, I give them two tries at most!

Just home and reading posts from all my faves---and struggling to read the word verification now changed to this even more exasperating form.

I agree with both of you. It is mostly unnecessary. After more than a year, I've never gotten spam. Of course, maybe I've never been read either, but that's for another day. LOL

I am with you with this one SUSTA! I have had SO much trouble with the words, sometimes it works but mostly it doesn't! I don't have word verification on my blog because people just don't like it! It is just an extra step to leaving a comment and I LOVE the comments, YOURS too:)

Hopefully it will go away! HUGS!

This is the worse! I can't even read half the letters! So after a try or maybe two...no comment!!

It is a pain in the ...well you know what I mean!!

There's really no point to doing the word spam control either, because bloggers can preview comments before allowing them through.

I totally agree with you. I am not commenting if they have it. Not worth the time.

I'm not leaving comments on blog with this word verification!

Count me in, too. Blogger is really getting nutty and with my 'aged to perfection' eyes, it's really hard to read the word verifications sometimes.

Mad people unite!!!!!

Didn't you know that you are playing a part in transcribing books into digital books when you do that word verification? :-) I'll have to send you a link to a blog that explained this. Strange. They definitely have gotten much worse, And with blogger catching spam, so they say, it really isn't necessary anymore. I can never get them right either!

I can't read those either! I am pretty sure I took mine down. I didn't even know I had it! Another nice way to keep comments nice is to enable comment moderation....I originally did that so my son couldn't put up some of his impulse comments! :)

I did remove word verification from my blog, but then I did start getting spam comments that went through. Can't remember if I put it back, but I don't think so.

These verification blobs have been frustrating me too, but I'd never take it out on the blogger. If they've written something worth commenting on, I will persevere.

I was thinking of posting my complaint as well. Seems like this all came about this week? ANNOYING to say the least.

I believe mine is turned off...yep, I checked.

I had a button on my blog for awhile (and I just put it up again) that says "A Word Verification Free Blog".

Here's the info: http://beatricebanks.blogspot.com/2011/03/cute-as-button.html
It's down a little on the right column of her blog.

Sorry, didn't realize I even had it. Took it off. I have a hard time reading those verification things too!

Love this post-in fact I thought I was writing it cause I sure was feeling it! It's so crazy I thought it must be a joke at first! Jokes on us I guess-wish more people would check to see if they even have it ! They really do test us sometimes!

Oh, I am so glad I am not the only one! I can't make them out half of the time and sadly have just given up leaving a comment on some posts. I don't have word verification on my blog, but moderate the comments...so easy. Glad you brought up the problem, i thought it was just me!

I couldn't agree with you more, and appreciate your discussing it to spread the "irritation". I know in the beginning these were meant to help decipher books that computers at google were having a hard time translating to digital, and I thought great we are all providing a service, but now they are simply out of hand, unreadable and a nuisance. I like your idea - 3X and your out.

I can barely tell what it is either! I need to check to see if I have word verification. I can't remember because of course I don't comment much on my own blog! :)

I posted about this over a year ago.
Begged , pleaded, asked- and still too many have WV. I no longer go to what were some of my fav blogs becuase I just cant play that game of Figure out what the (*%^** this word is and type it just like we want ya to or try again 5 times.. NOPE aint gonna do it..

LL Cool Joe said...

I have been leaving comments where the word verification is switched on, but it is driving me insane, and I have to say it would put me off regularly commenting on that person's blog now.

Right on, sistah.
I was already planning to post on this this week, and I still might.

Because it sucks. Truly.

I totally agree. Weird thing just happened to me. Said I couldn't use pop up on your page. I had to hit control and post comment at the same time!
