Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Shovlin' In a Winter Wonderland - - -

.

This is me.

Yesterday.

Ready to shovel.

I was "home alone", so I shan't give away my SECRET as to how I took this self-portrait, but let me just say this little ASIDE to Cindy and Sister Pam: GIRLS!!! I did it on the FIRST try this time!!!! I was giggling all over in my head remembering that experience we had a few short months ago - - - -

Anyway, back to the matter at hand. LITERALLY at hand - - - SHOVELING.

This is how I first started to hollow out my neighbor's sidewalk.

And here's what I still had to do at that point. It may not LOOK like much, but TRUST me, it took me over an hour.

Well, yes I took multiple lean-on-the-shovel-handle rest breaks!

What do you think I am??? Superwoman?

No I am not.

Let me just say here and now - - - NEXT snow storm, I will keep this walk cleared out DURING the storm same as I do mine.

MUCH easier that way.

Why am I even DOING her walk when she is away in FL for the duration you ask? Well - - - BECAUSE, I am the SELF-DESIGNATED-WALK-SHOVELER for this duplex. That's why.

Here is my finished snow-tunnel HANDiwork.

WHEW - - - let me just say I feel absolutely no need for a trip to work-out in a gym now!!!

Of course, I never DID feel the need of that - - - but that is an entirely DIFFERENT story.

And just look at my little snowmen sled marker!!!!

This side of the duplex had MORE snow to shovel because of wind-piling-it-up issues.

Gotta HATE those.

Then I went inside to take off my layers.

Notice I did NOT say I went inside to "warm up," for in SPITE of the fact that it was all of 8* F, I was sweating up a storm from my "minor" exertion.

But this one thing I DID learn from my shoveling experience:

Fisherhubby's old Birkenstock's just really AREN'T the best footwear for this particular activity.

No traction.

Yep - - - I slid right down, very gracefully I might add, to the ground SEVERAL times while I was out there.

Fortunately you weren't, nor was any one else, around to SEE me and laugh.

Still - - - I think I'll visit Wally World and "invest" in more task appropriate foot wear.

Maybe tomorrow.

Oh of COURSE I'll blog about it when I do!!

TTFN.

Nice job on the self-taken pic! You look so toasty warm in your snowsuit since the shovel was hiding your feet. I can't believe that you have been wearing Birkenstocks all of this time while out shoveling. (Joe says, "Proof of brain freeze but hello to my hat!") Doesn't FH have some boots that you could slop around in - even if they are hipsters? What a good neighbor to shovel the walk of someone who is snowbirding it in our fair state. Good exercise for you even if the neighbor returns after all of the snow is gone for the season!

WOW...your landlord will love you, and that has to look better than big track marks. Good job!!! Birky's probably not the best footware for shovelin. Get some with a traction contraption.

God job but I agree...get some appropriate footwear! Enjoy the snow!

Oh my, you gave me a visual...besides knowing you were shoveling in Birkenstocks.

I remember living in Flagstaff, we had a long driveway on an incline. We had to shovel every 3-4 inches or so (and I use the term 'we' loosely, Sunny did most the shoveling). If we didn't shovel, forget it. Then on top of that if any of us drove on it, it would pack it down so tightly it would end up being ice for the winter. Boy, were we thankful to not be there when we heard that last winter they got 6 ft in 2 snowstorms.
As much as we loved our spot on the hill, winters could be brutal.

Now here we are and yesterday it was an really unusual 65 degrees. Crazy.

wow - what a workout!
We haven't had any snow yet (yay!), but I'm sure it's coming soon...

Your smile says it all! I think you are glad to be back North of the Illinois border, snow and all! I just went outside and because the wind isn't blowing, thought to myself that it may be only 7* outside, but it really isn't THAT BAD....
I guess it is just in our blood (well, literally it is in our blood isn't it, Science teacher Mrs Broyles?)
Hope you have a wonderful week!!!

Bless your heart! That looks like so much work. You've got to treat yourself to some appropriate boots though! :)

Shoveling...such a foreign word to me! After that workout, you shouldn't need to visit the gym for a week!

I am laughing my head off Miss Keetha!!
Oh yes, you did good on the self-portrait!
But the footwear had me howling!
I can't believe you shoveled all that snow wearing those Birkenstocks! You must have had frostbite by then!
You brave and tough soul you!
Welcome to Wisconsin Hey?
Oh, and you know your from Wisconsin when you say Hey at the end of your sentences. lol.
Hugs,
Cindy

You did a great job and that is great exercise. Yes you better get yourself some boots. It reminds me of a time we went to the mountains to take the kids sledding and our daughter had some sandles on! How we missed that getting into the car I don't know.

You are a doll to shovel the sidewalk for your duplexy neighbor - It's so difficult to shovel snow that is days or weeks old, as you know. I can't imagine coming home to a wall of snow at my front door. You are the BEST!

Yep, get yourself some proper shoes. We like your noggin too much to have it hit the ground!
