Please Don't Leave Me!!!
I found five or six comments on my blog today which were in Japanese. When I stuck them into google translator, they were pornographic.
Really???? It isn't bad enough that we get spammed with this junk in our own language??? Now we are subjected to hieroglyphic nasty????
So folks, I turned the word veri back on. I know, I know, I KNOW it's a pain, but I BEG my beloved bloggy friends to put up with the bother and STILL visit me in comment land.
I just don't want anymore bilingual porn.
I'm Not An Alien Anymore!!!
Sunday morning as I was getting ready for church, it suddenly dawned on me - - - one of those true light bulb flashing moments - - - that perhaps my driver's license had EXPIRED on my birthday.
Yep.
I was an illegal alien.
Well, at least that's how it felt when I decided that while renewing I would go ahead and get one of those new "secure ID" licenses.
Have you gotten one yet?
Well when you do, because I'm told they will one day be required, if you are a female, BESIDES the documents listed on the DMV site - - - SS card, birth certificate, and two computer printed forms that contain your name, your current address, and are dated no more than 60 days ago - - - - BE SURE IF YOU ARE MARRIED THAT YOU BRING YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE. And if you've had multiple marriages and did NOT legally take back your maiden name in between, ALL THOSE MARRIAGE LICENSES TOO.
First time in 34 and a half years that I've needed a marriage license - - - but there you have it.
Of course I did NOT take it with me - - - I didn't even know if we still HAD a copy of it.
I phoned Fisherhubby. He KNEW where it was, and brought it to me so I didn't have to start all over again!!!
So now, I am SECURE. I'm not an ALIEN. I BELONG here - - - whether you want me or not!
:-)

My goodness! What a rigamarole (however you spell it) to go through!
I didn't even know there was such a thing as a secure ID driver's license. They are serious about it being secure, aren't they?
Hi Keetha,
That is so funny because I have been getting those too and it never dawned on me to translate them! Well now I know I don't want to! Cindy
Surfin' porn again, huh Keetha? I don't know what the big deal is about word veri. It only takes 2 seconds! And thanks for the heads up on what to look forward to when renewing a license. And the price has almost tripled to renew it too. Shysters....
Is that what it was, Keetha? I got a Japanese comment too but I just ignored it cause I couldn't understand it. I guess I should delete it...Christine
Too Too Funny!! anyway...Ohayo Gozaimaisu....Yes, I spent a month in Japan....but it wasn't me who left those messages because I survived on a vocabulary of about 24 words...haha...Domo Arigato Gozaimasu......Kompai!!
As a matter of fact, are you interested in applying for a fulbright to go to Japan? The Japanese Gov't just re-opened the applications for teachers in the US to apply to go...It was the best thing I have ever done that was job related...if you want to know more about this, email me: ppultorak@newyork.com
Yup I have had one as well. I deleted it right away and so far so good. I don't think they will come back if you delete right away. Not worth their effort if you don't leave it there.
don't worry! we won't leave!
Wouldn't think of leaving. I adore your sense of humor! A marriage license to get a driver's license? Haven't heard of this. What next? LOL ~ Sarah
Glad that you are not an alien! I've not heard of those licenses -- perhaps they haven't gotten to the prairie as yet.
The good news is that the State of Missouri and the County of Jackson take care of me -- my documents are all on file and for a few $$ I can get a new copy! I need not worry about what I did with the last one I got!
Holy. . . ...cow! Marriage license? Birth certificate? Maybe my passport?
Let me make my list. Keetha, you are a providing a public service. How scary is that?
a in the up
I turned my word verification back on a month or two ago for the same reason. My comments weren't in a foreign language or porn but they were just weird and on really old posts, and they made me feel creepy! And they were worded poorly--which I would never do as you can tell from the crazy comment.
Sounds like you had a task to collect all your documentation for your driver's license. I can hardly wait!
I think the word verification is becoming standard practice anymore. too much Spam!! Icky Japanese Spam, blah!
Mine expires later this year. I don't think I have that information! Glad your legal.
It's the best idea to do the word verification for awhile. It will pass.
And what is a secure id? I'm pretty sure mine is secure enough. Unless Jessie takes it....
My opinion is that it is rediculous that they require even more than they already have. Won't be long and they'll be drawing blood. Crazy.
As for your Japanese, that happened to me a couple months ago, only mine was Chinese porn. I had to do the same thing with the word thingy. I think I'll try clicking it off and see if they went away.
"Hieroglyphic nasty..." tee-hee-hee. ;-)
I don't mind the word verification at all. Takes three secs to type it in. I had it on forever and only recently took down. Now I've tried to be conscientious about deleting the hieroglyphic nasties (HA!) that pop-up every now and again but since I don't make it to my *own* blog every day...well, I guess I'm keeping the nasties out there for the world to see. Alas.
I have been randomly getting spam in other languages too - I kind of wonder if it doesn't attract other spam comments as I'll get lots on older posts until I delete the comments - then they stop!
I need to get my drivers license renewed in the next 5 months - thanks for the warning on what to take!!
And finally - just catching up from Christmas comments!! - thanks for taking the time to tell me about my Christmas plates!! Very interesting :)
I turned on comment moderation on all posts older than 30 days so that the spammy comments don't even make it to the blog. The last month or two I have been just inundated with spam comments. I'm not quite sure what's going on.
I hate hate hate word verif. because it almost always takes me two times to get the letters correct. lol I'm so dyslexic. But I won't leave. You're stuck with me for life as far as I'm concerned. :)
The Goat
Hi Keetha,
Glad your "official" again, wouldn't want to hear of you being deported!
I've had a couple of odd comments recently, but didn't investigate.
I really don't like this word veri stuff but wouldn't dream of not following you any longer, your blog brightens up my day.
Maggie
I had to put the veri on my blog too, yesterday in fact because the same thing happened to me. Its a sad thing that, that crap goes around, ugggg
I didnt even know there was a new type of license, thanks for all the tips on what to bring next time i go in. I had my marriage license framed real nice and i cant take it out so i will have to bring it in that way, too funny. My mariage certificate is so special to me, it deserves to be in a frame dont ya think?
I've been getting strange comments on old posts, too. But since I leave the moderation on, I can delete them instead of let them post.
When we first moved to Indiana, I can't even remember how many trips we had to make to the BMV before we finally had all the items we needed. CRAZY! And marriage license?? Lol! Maybe I should just take my filing cabinet! Thanks for the heads up. :)
Heh. I get Asian character spam, too, but didn't know what it was. Do the spammers think people who read my blog can read their comments? Hmm.
I'm glad you're not an illegal alien. One time coming back from a cruise, I misplaced my photo ID. Proving that I am an American. My husband and I braced for a lot of problems at customs, but they totally didn't care. And my ID was in my pocket the whole time. Go me.
"Now we are subjected to hieroglyphic nasty????" YOU are fabulous. That cracked me up!
And yes, you belong, and yes, I want you here :)
*my word verification is rumba. Can I have a little salsa with that? :)
illegal or not, i like you
