But NOT in with the new!
Now that we are empty-nested, we are DOWNSIZING when it comes to the number of vehicles parked in our driveway. I'm more than happy to lessen our monthly car insurance bill!!!
Greg ordered this Camaro in the fall of 1994 to allay his midlife crisis. He drove it exclusively for years. Then when Kyle began to drive, it was his car. Now Kyle has moved on to bigger and better things (interpretation: unicycle) and left the Camaro behind.
So, after almost 14 years, nearly flawless performance (I believe it's only had one or two brake changes and precious little other work besides routine maintenance - - - no lemon she), and 220,000+ miles we are telling her "good-bye."
And our first-born son is telling her "hello!"
Kelly was 14 when we got the Camaro and just itching at the bit to be at the wheel. It was NOT the Camaro which he was allowed to drive - - - rather my minivan. However, he WANTED to drive it, and truth be told, he had some excursions in it when mom and dad weren't home. Just look at the GRIN on his face as he picked her up yesterday.
And this, Kelly's Taurus, is going to his sister, Keri. Kelly's girlfriend, Cathy, is driving it away. However, that isn't really a grin on her face - - - it's a grimace. She did NOT want to drive that thing at all!!!
It's "All in the Family."
(Editor's Note: Sorry about the picture quality - - - sun was at the wrong angle - AND, now the Taurus has been passed down from oldest daughter to youngest son!!! We're STILL keeping it all in the family!)

Very cool car by the way! Thats what happened in our family, the cars got passed down, even the 20 year old pickup Mr. Whitey. My youngest got to drive grandma's old orange bomb with the white leather seat even...oh well, it's good to keep them humble and anything is better than riding the bus, right?! LOL
Good for you folks; it's good that the car will be many times loved!
When I grew up there were 5 drivers and only 3 things to drive. I shared a 67 Mercury Cougar with Sissy. Wish every now and then that I still had that car. It was da bomb!

We are down to one car for the two of us and while shocking to imagine, it works!
I'm still reeling from this. Hand-me-down cars! /Whatever next?! We must be very boring here: only one of anything - one car, one bathroom, one dog. Deprivation with a capital D!
Isn't it nice to have things that continue to work and can be passed down over and over again. We've done that with a few vehicles and with furniture as well. LBeau's childhood bedroom furniture eventually ended up at deer camp where I believe it still resides.
Hi Girlfriend...
My friend, I love your little camaro! I'm sure that your son was just "pleased as punch" to get it!!! You know that my honey is a camaro man...he restores the 2nd gen. camaros 1970-78! We even have a "Camaro Heaven" in our backyard! Hehe! parts cars! Anyway, so happy that the little camaro will remain in the family! Thank you so much for sharing this fun post with us today for Sunday Favorites, Darlin'!!!

That's the way it happened in our family at times - I was never the recipient of any cars though, but my sisters sure were. Poor things, one of them got a 1979 pea green Ford Ranchero in the 1990s. LOL She hated that car. Totally uncool.
That's great!Reusing and recycling...we do a lot of that here...what with kids 15,14, and 11:)
Dave Ramsey would be proud of you all! :)
