Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Thrifty Vintage Thingies - "Calling All Planets . . . "

.
It's THAT time again!!!!
Vintage Thingies Thursday over at Coloradolady and Thrifty Thursday at Bloggeritaville.

Be sure you click on both of the icons or links above to check out what everyone else is posting.

Let me rephrase that opening line - - - it WAS that time again.

You girls were together and organized and you all came to the party on time. I was like the foolish virgins who went to the wedding banquet WITHOUT any oil - - - I was caught unprepared.

So here is my post. The party's pretty much over - - - and I'm just now dragging my sorry self through the door. Well, the clean-up crew may enjoy hearing from me!!!

I swear, I just don't know what on this great big wide green Earth is WRONG with me this fall. Last fall I was able to bring home the school bacon AND fry up my blog in the pan, but this year - - - - - - - - - not so much!

Anyway, for my vintage thrifty thingie this week I give you this little rendition, and I PROMISE LaVoice, I had this idea in the back of my mind even BEFORE I saw your post today:

These hands belong to my friend Vickie. She is a modern girl. She has one of those fancy phones that takes, stores, and sends pictures. It can send texts lickity-split, clean the house, do the laundry, go grocery shopping, bring it all home and store it away in the freezer and pantry before you can say "Jack Robinson."

And Vickie? - - - her fingers just FLY over that phone day and night, she hardly even gets any sleep, shes' so high tech and highly technical!!!

These hands belong to Fisherhubby. His phone is even newer-fangled than Vickie's!!! He can hold his horizontal OR vertical, he just touches his screen and he's roaming the world wide web, checking his Facebook and buying swamp land in China. Why his phone will even transport him to outer space and back instantaniously just like Captain Kirk and the crew on the Enterprise.

I can't even turn this baby ON!!!! Once I tried to touch-type in my password and I contacted Venus instead. (Oh I do exaggerate - but not by MUCH)

Because you see, I am a VINTAGE kind of gal!!!! This is my phone. It can't take pictures. It can't text. (Well it used to, but I had that option deleted) It won't fix dinner and it can't solve the Earth's problems. It does wear it's bling well - - - though even THAT fad is now passe, being circa 1998.

To be honest, it's just a tad too complex for me, but it was the most basic model they had when my simpler phone died and I had do a FREE "upgrade" a couple of years ago.

As cell phones go, this one is vintage, obsolete, and thrifty.

JUST LIKE ME.

It is not just you Keetha, You have no idea what I go through each week to JUST get VTT post up, and if it was not a commitment I made....well, I might not get it up at all....some weeks....it is such a struggle....on top of that my days off have changed, I was off wed/thurs. and now I have to sleep during the day and go to work at night...so I know it is going to be even a bigger struggle if I don't get my act in gear....and God forbid a link does not work and I am at work and can't fix it...oh, well...such as life!!

Loved your phones...I'm with you...simple is best!

Have a great VTT! and a great weekend.

Well I can do some html code for the computer, I can load and use an ipod, I can teach computers to people but I don't text either. I just didn't want to add more to my phone bill. I like the package I have. My old phone died and they lost it when it went out for repair so they gave me a new phone with the sliding keyboard. Wasted on me.The only criteria I have for a phone is that I can answer it with one hand...and I have really small hands.

Haha you're funny! I always got my kids' hand me down phones, I never knew how to work them, I never had the instruction books, but one by one they would quit working. So, finally for my birthday I bought a fancy iPhone and I have to say I LOVE it.

Very fun read today! I'm a vintage girl too - took me a long time to figure out how to turn my cell on and off!!! I had to ask a co-worker to help when I got a new phone! Have a great weekend!

I LOVE it. I wish I still had one of those old easy to use phones. Now I need the tech guy just to dial a number :-(

I can't find my blog said...

I call mine the dinosaur phone. No text, pics, or net here either. You should have seen the gals at BlogHer when I told them that if they wanted to find me they had to actually CALL me. So funny how these things change so quickly when just a few years ago only doctors had them!

I may have you beat in the vintage phone category...mine makes calls, and that's about it! It was the "free when you resign with us" phone. I'm very close to biting the bullet and getting a new phone. But I barely have time to sleep anymore...I don't think I want people texting me and tweeting and all that techie stuff! :-)

Hope you're doing well. These past few weeks have been hectic (I, too, haven't been frying up my blog in a pan, lol!!) I'm enjoying catching up with you...the good thing about time away from blogs is getting to catch up in one big sitting!!

Happy weekend (almost!)

I have one of the "newer" phones that can do it all.....I just don't know how to do it. My husband keeps telling me I'm not using the phone to it's full capacity but as long as I can make and receive a phone call...I'm good to go!!
Great post!

I'm with you, girl! It takes me 5 minutes to send a 3-word text message to my daughter only to get one back to her that says "WHAT??". Oh well!

This is too funny because I had an old phone too... YEARS old which is practically obsolete! when my sons phone broke I had to give it to him and go back to the new phone that I had upgraded to years ago and stopped using because i hated it (bar phone)

My son does nothing but complain about my flintsontian phone and I do nothing but pine for it :)

Keetha, you know I do not care if we used the same subject. They were no way alike and you knew more about the latest phones than I do. I do not even own one. Please drop by anytime.

Keetha,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I can' believe you got the same little bowl as a wedding gift that I just picked up.!
I have been running behind blgging this week because we are still camping and there is just so much I have been doing. So, you are in great "late" company! :)

My cell phone is a dinosaur too. That's ok, because I rarely use it. But I don't care about any of that. I'm still laughing over that virgins and no oil line! You crack me up!

Its not for everybody but texting does come in handy sometimes!!

Just found your blog from over at Maggie's Normandy Life. I can totally relate to getting everything done of late. As the ad says, "Life comes at you fast!" Mine certainly has of late. Keeping up with the blogging world is such fun, but time consuming. But I've added myself to your blog as a follower because I LOVE your sense of humor. I taught for 30 years and continue as a private tutor. Will enjoy keeping up with your blog.
Thanks, for sharing. Enjoy your weekend. ~ Sarah

My cell only makes calls when I am off the road in a ditch..and even then it's "iffy"...
I haven't figured out the cordless phone in the house yet. I'm pathetic and sooo out of the loop.

It's SO nice to find that I am not completely alone in this!

Keetha...I am so dense about the cell phones! It surprises me what my boys and DH can do with their phone. But, A few months aga, Ian taught me how to text. I CAN do it. However, I could get a phonebood, look up the number, and place a long distance call on a home phone in the time it takes to text. But, their fingers fly over those letters. Couldn't have anything to do with age, do ya think?

I may have everyone here beat. I have never owned a cell phone and I have only ever used one twice. thats it....I have never texted. Would not have a clue. Don't even know which buttons to push to call out or answer..Nothing...Absolutely nothing.

I got my iphone about a month ago and LOVE it! I love having it all at my fingertips. I love that the internet works {almost} wherever I am. I love that I can get my emails throughout the day. I love how organized it makes me feel - so many things wrapped together in that one little device! And I find it amazingly easy to use - not to say that I am using it to its full capacity but I can't wait to learn how to do more!
