Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Bird Man of Alcatraz

.
That's what I call one of my 6th graders because he just can't SIT in his desk. He hovers. He floats. He perches like a bird in his seat - - - so he's my little Bird Man of Alcatraz.

He's fun, bright, and energetic.

Every year I assign a "Cell Project" in which my 6th graders have to create a model of a plant cell and one of an animal cell.

They've brought cell models made out of everything imaginable - - - candles, odds 'n ends from their dad's workshop, cakes, cookies, modeling clay, 2 liter soda bottles, pudding with fruit, and t-shirts.

But the Bird Man of Alcatraz is the FIRST to ever bring pizza cells!!!!

Of COURSE he got an "A"!!!

Hi Keetha,
That is so clever~ my kids had to do that same project in sixth grade! The only difference was they had to use a styrafome ball and we had to carve and color out the shapes. I remember trying to help my daughter with the carving and going through about 4 balls because they kept crumbling apart. I like your idea better. Cindy

I can't believe my little Spence is in 6th grade!! =[

If you give him a gameboy, he will sit still.

What a great idea and I'm sure he was so excited to show you what he did!! I can just see it.

Of course. Was that his idea, or his mama's? Serious cell walls/membranes.

Keetha! I love you! My fifth grader has been looking for a creative way to make his cell project and this is SO PERFECT!

School is not his strong hold, but FOOD IS! Lol!

But where are his labels?? :)
