Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Birthday Post - Take Two, Final Take

.
Last Sunday was my birthday and since I celebrated it right here in my own little city, I decided to share my celebrations with you, here at Sunday in My City.
.
First I want to tell you that even before my birthday arrived, my bloggy friend U.P. Annie made sure my celebration by sending me birthday e-cards for more than two weeks.  She spaced them apart at odd intervals so that I would forget all about them between their deliveries, thus ensuring that EACH was a special surprise.  Thank you soooo much dear Annie!
.

Last Sunday, as I arrived at church, I was met by my friend Connie's two girls, Kayla and Tracie, who carried a large "house" box.  This they thrust into my hands with the instructions that I was to open it on the spot!

Having never been to a Build-a-Bear nor ever owning one before, I didn't realize what it was until I peeped inside the roof.
.
.
Imagine my surprise and delight to find my very own designer Bucky nestled in tissue paper inside.

Why, I didn't know such a thing was possible!  A Build-a-Bear Bucky!  How perfect.  This birthday was quickly getting off to a start that would ensure it one of the very best ever!
.

Later, when I got him home, Bucky quickly found his roost on the back of Pillow Pal Bucky.  P.P. Bucky was my Birthday gift from Kayla and Tracie's mom last year.

How very lucky am I?

After church, in the absence of Fisherhubby who was working in the ER, my friends Bill and Eloise and Connie and Jim went to lunch with me to celebrate.

Yes, I was "odd man out" but I didn't care - - - it was my BIRTHDAY!
.
.
About a week ago I did "Birthday Post - Take One" in which I showed you these birthday boxes that arrived prior to my special day.

Several of you have been chiding me for leaving you on pins and needles wondering what was IN the boxes.

I WAS a stinker about that, wasn't I?

Well, I WAITED to open them until MIDNIGHT on my birthday so Fisherhubby would be home from work to watch me open them.

NO, I do NOT mean midnight at the START of my birthday - - - I mean midnight at the END of my day.

Yes, I really did wait until Midnight WITH NO PEEKING.

While you may not have known what was in the top box, I knew as SOON as I saw the DeBrand label.  AND furthermore, I knew it was WONDERFUL and worth the wait!  The only things I didn't know were which of my two daughters sent it AND exactly what "selection" was inside.

Turns out our oldest daughter, Keri, sent the DeBrand and it was meant to be shared with Fisherhubby.  More's the pity!  Oh, I do kid.  I'm kinda happy to share it with him.  ;-)
.
.

Because, you see, DeBrand is the absolute BEST fine chocolate on the planet.

No, not on the planet - - - IN THE UNIVERSE.

This is the tower of treats that I found inside the box.
.
.
Just look at these exquisite miniatures.  And let me assure you, they taste even better than they look!
.
.

Four truffles.

Rich.

Decadent.

Lusciousness!!!

Thank you Keri and Jason!!!
.

The other box came from my MIL Robin.   I've mentioned before that Robin has the GIFT of gift giving.  She discovers what we love and finds us gifts that fit our tastes.

She has long since seen on my blog that I collect nutcrackers and that I call them my Kings.

Let me tell you, as soon as I found this little King hiding inside the box, I KNEW he was something special.   I'm not a "designer" kinda gal - - - but even I knew when he was cushioned inside a cloth bag with a gold drawstring that he was a King to be RECKONED With.

Inside the drawstring bag, along with The King to be Reckoned With were a slew of little papers, including registration numbers and other designer fru fru.   All the papers were clearly marked "Timmy Woods of Hollywood."

Not knowing Timmy Woods personally, I had to google.

Oh my!
. .
.
The King to Be Reckoned With is actually a handbag!   He opens right down the middle and there is a handle inside that can be used when he is carried.

I shall not be carrying him and risking damage to his kingly self.  He shall reside in a place of honor where he will be safe and sound.

Thank you sooo much Robin!!!
.
.
And last but not least, my friend Kay gave me ANOTHER King.  You may "recognize" him for the special "treat" that he is.
.
.
And when I flip a little lever on his back, he spews forth M & M's to beat the band!

How fun is that?
.
.
He has found a place to live on my kitchen counter.  There he shall remain until he has given up all his treats, after which he may disappear until next Christmas.

Cookie Jarbear and her cubs aren't quite sure yet if they want him in their den or not.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Birthday celebration and enjoyed even MORE stretching it out over about three weeks' time.  I believe if you have to get older you might as well have fun doing it!

And believe me, I'm getting OLDer.  Now I'm staring right down the barrel of old age.

Sure beats the alternative!

Great gift giving is indeed a gift. Some of us didn't get that gift, but looks like your friends and family surely got it in a big way! Wonderful gifts!

You are NOT getting old...:)

Oh, that Keri! And the photography! As if my little Toshiba weren't erratic enough, now I'm drooling all over the keyboard. Yum, yum, yum!

The kings are cool, but Bucky is over the top! I'm glad your Badgerness and your sweet tooth all got satisfied for your "almost a geezer" birthday. It was a really good one!

Happy happy birthday, Keetha! I'm glad to hear you had a great one. I have to say, you should find a fancy holiday party (to go to) next year, so you can wear a ball gown and carry your handbag king. Seriously.

I love chocolate. I am glad you showed us the king, too. Did you know that today is the Day of the Kings? Today is the day that tradition says that the three wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They were thought to be kings, as well. In New Orleans and in many places around the world, today is celebrated with King Cake and other such nonsense. Maybe you could use this as an excuse to have cake while admiring your KING collection.
