Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

Sometimes I Just Get SOOOO Riled UP

.
And this is one of those times.

WARNING:  This post is about one of my pet peeves and will feature me standing up tall on my soapbox.  Continue at your own risk, we do NOT provide lifeguards!

I made this post way back in 2006 when I first started blogging.  Today another blogger mentioned hearing a similar "critique" of blogging.

I say, the internet is NOT a narrow one way path and hobby bloggers (like moi) are NOT choking the road for the others - - - so leave us alone and let us hobby, k?

And without further ado I rerun:

"No One Cares What You Ate For Lunch"
First posted on 12/05/06

Is, I believe, the title of a book written by a woman I heard being interviewed on NPR the other morning. The purpose of the book was to instruct people on how to make an interesting blog.

It sounded to me that she thought talking about food was boring.
.
.

I disagree. I enjoy TALKING about,
.

READING about,
.

And SEEING photos of food on blogs.
.

I think Miss "NPRauthor-interviewee" used her blog as an online department store of unusual goods and services.

I think THAT is boring!

.
.

I guess my little nonpoint here is this - - - - the blogs I like are the ones where people share random things from their real lives, things like visits to pumpkin patches, chocolate desserts, children and their antics, fun quotes, frog princes, pies in the face, football, name the baby contests, choose the Christmas picture contests,Pig Latin essays, and funny anecdotes. I really don't want to spend my free time perusing someone's sales pitch.

And - - - - - for all who are wondering, and even for those who are not, I had leftovers for lunch.

Thank you for sticking up for me! I feel vindicated in my un-importance.

And for lunch today I had chowder made with potatoes and whatever veggies, cheese, and scraps of meat I could find in the fridge. (I was needing to go the store.) It was yummy. Thanks for asking. But no pictures. Sorry.

My kind of person. You want find much to eat on my blog, but I would buy you a soda. I dearly love what others cook tho.

I don't like the blogs with all the foo-foo. Turns me off. I love the blogs that are about real stories, the ones you get to make new friends, the ones you laugh with and sometimes cry with. Those are the blogs that mean something special.

I had a smart ones frozen meal for lunch. And I prefer blogs that are every day life. Sometimes food, sometimes weather, sometimes nonsense. Oh wait...that's my blog!

Hey Keetha,
I am still in Arizona and on a strange timeclock. But you hit the nail on the head with this post! I read a blog recently that told all the do's and dont's and I was so put off. I really and truly think that the best part of blogging for me has been the friends I have made. And i don't give a hoot about the so called rules.
Hugs friend,
back to Wisc. on Sunday.

When I first started to write my blog I was bombarded by others who informed me of the do's and don'ts. After two years of blogging here is my big beef ~ I was told that one must always thank the hostess of a party. Okay, that sounds like common etiquette to me. However, blog parties have become a way to advertise one's blog. The hostess of a big party rarely stops by to say hi or say thanks for joining in and giving me another hit and maybe clicking on an ad or two and putting a few dollars in my pocket. All these rules that the big players insist upon, but never follow. I say blaze your own trail and wear blinders. Have a great weekend. I had cottage cheese for lunch.

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

I agree with you on that one. I enjoy "family style" blogs a lot more than all the ones trying to sell you stuff, tell you what you need for your home, wardrobe etc. Now I love "crafty" blogs as long as it doesn't involve me running out buying certain items...

I so completely agree! When one mentions blog to a nonblogger, the first thing they think of is oh no, here is an attentionhungry person who just wants to get their opinion of whatever out there. But it's not. And people don't get that.

Ha! I love it when you get on your soapbox! I blog because I want to and most of my friends in blogland do the same. I don't care if some crazy reviewer thinks my blog is boring.....as if! :). It's real life for me matey!

In fact I once told my husband that I don't like the blogs that are money makers and he said "heavens no! You wouldn't want to make money" I don't know what he meant!

So lets keep on with doing what we want on out blogs and if some don't like it or find us boring, their loss!

Have a great weekend! And trust me, you are not boring!

I have difficulty writing my blog, some days. The world seems to be falling to ruin and here I am posting about my Annie Sloan Paint makeover!
I enjoy reading blogs because my friends, whether they be the 1% or the 47% or the 3%, are real people whose lives I find interesting and who make the world a bit lighter for the time it takes to read about what they had for lunch.
My cat had a tin of "Tuna With Peas" for lunch. I haven't decided what I will have yet.

I'm with YOU, Hon!! We do a lot of sharing around a table, and just the fact of sitting-down-together is fading away, taking a lot of family harmony and closeness with it.

I have NO talents for any art or craft or music to show anyone, but my Daddy always said, "You make really pretty food---too bad it always gets et up."

Keep posting, Sweetpea!!

Well said. I put left overs in our soup for lunch today.

That was a great post, glad you shared it again. I write about my life and if that includes what I ate for lunch so be it! I haven't had lunch yet but I had a breakfast bar and we are having pork chops for dinner :)

Amen, sister!
There's room enough for all of us.
My blog is silly but it is MINE, and as my Grandma used to say when she put dinner on the table, "That's all there is, and what are you going to do about it?"

I had a reader once email me, saying she was not going to read my blog anymore because it was all about me.
HUH? Well of course it's about me ... I don't know enough about anything else to write about!

Enjoy your weekend, my friend.
Keep crabbing. Love it.

PS Had supermarket-made lobster bisque for lunch, and have a meatloaf in the oven for dinner. Plus a chicken roasting, in case we lose power in the coming storm.
There. How fascinating is that? :-)

Ouch. My team got crunched...again. While at 4-4 right now, here's to next season only 10 months away from kickoff against Northern Illinois.

This subject resonates with a great many of us, I see. If folks want to have a blog that promotes their wares, or advertises as the Tappet Brothers say, "The Shameless Commerce Division" they can go for it. But I get plenty of unsolicited advertising, thank you. I'd rather just hang out with my friends, and get recipes, see their grandkids, or dogs, or hear what interests them today. Yarn, books, flu, car trouble, pet peeves. It's all good. Even football...sniff!

I'll join you up on that soapbox. I can always count on my fellow bloggers to lift my spirits, inspire, humor, entertain, or make me hungry whenever I need that boost. Just reading your post right now, did all those things at the same time! How more perfect can blogging be?! ...I'm really hungry now for what looks like a Burrito from Moe's.....

No one is MAKING me read blogs, so if I was tired of hearing what someone had for lunch, I could simply stop reading. But I seem to enjoy being able to peek in on people's lives, and what they eat tells you something about them. I am eating cinnamon raisin toast with real butter for breakfast at this very moment. I thought you should know. ;)

:-) I am laughing here. I know what you're saying. Random is always best!

By the way, I think that sometimes left-overs just rock. :D

Hugs, Keetha. Always put a smile on my face!
