Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

McMillan Library in My City

.
.
The Library
It isn't just for books any more.
.

Come on over to McMillan library,
Let's open the door to see what we can see.
.
.
We have a commons bright and clean
Where you can read a paper or a magazine.

There's movies, audiobooks, CDs,
TV series, and two rows of PCs.

Have a Kindle or a Kindle App?
We've got e-books you can read on that.
.
.
Come on over to our coffee shop.
You'll get a hot cup of java at this stop.

You'll find muffins, cookies, pizza too
Hot chocolate, pretzels, and more for you.
.
.
Then mosey on over to our AV shelves
To find something to entertain yourselves.
.
.
And if you don't see what your bell will ring,
We can put a hold on just about anything.
.
.
Need to have a meeting, a gathering, a chat?
We've got just the right room for that!

To get ready you won't need to do a deed,
We'll set it all up just the way that you need.

And in case you're worried there'll be a steep fee,
This is the LIBRARY, we do it for free!

.
We even have a theater where bright stars perform
And comfortable seats where you'll be nice and warm.
.
.
Now follow me please as we make our way,
Up the stairs past this area that we call our display.

In the display you may see a frog or a rose
A bird, a mouse, or a fossil, I suppose.
.
Then onward and upward we shall go
Till we reach the adult "pony show."

Oh this library is such a busy place,
With computers and people in every space.
.
And if you want books, we have them galore,
Old books and new books from ceiling to floor.

Would you like to read a great mystery
Or does your heart yearn for history?

We've got action, thrillers, and graphic novels too.
You'll find westerns, large print, and books of "how do."
.
.
And in case there's some hard cover our library lacks,
We've got lots of "rounds" full of paper backs.
.
.
We even have PEOPLE, and help you they can,
Like this lovely lady, the smiling Miss Pam.
.
.
We have this bright section just for your teen,
With poetry to prose and all in between.
.
.
And last but not least is our children's place,
Which is sure to bring a smile to any face.
.
.
We have rows of round tables just the right size
To bring a bright glow to any child's eyes.

You'll find puzzles, games, puppets,
Picture books, videos, and muppets.
.
.
And if that's not enough to boggle the brain,
We even have an area for this toy train.
.
.
So come to our library, bring the whole family,
We'll do our best to entertain thee.

And after you've explored each and every floor.
Looked through each window and around every door,
.
I think when you've seen all that we have in store,
You'll realize the library "ain't" just for bookworms "no more".

I love the idea of a coffee/tea shop in the library. Not much better than curling up with a good book and a relaxing cuppa tea.

Love it! Your library is so much nicer than ours. We just do not have a good selection of books, books on tape, etc. I still break down and buy most of mine because of this.

We used to go to the Library all the time. Now, with work, school and activities, coupled with cut hours, we just don't seem to get there anymore! :-(

I am bunking with a relative for this last pass through Louisiana. She lives near a beautiful, large, and modern library. She never graces its doors. I wish more people realized the opportunities in our modern libraries in the US. It's just sad that we have none, or almost none, in our entire little country of Honduras.

What a beautiful place to visit! I'm working on a piece about our local library, too, but you beat me to it! Wonderful post!

I love how there is something for everyone and it all is so inviting!

Thanks for sharing!

I love libraries! If I'm not in a craft store, you can find me in a book store!

I've always loved libraries! It's great we have places to educate or entertain ourselves - for 'free'. (In Finland we pay libraries in our taxes)
Great post, a lot of work, well done!
Have a good week ahead!

Beautiful Library - you could fit four of our cute little library inside yours. With a town of just 2,200 people in 1,000 households - our truly Rural Library is a munchkin next to yours.

Great job, Keetha. I love the rhyme. That's some library! I've never seen a library that has a theatre.

You are a very talented poet! I love this! Your library is going to want to use this poem for a flyer or bookmark. :) Libraries have a special place in my heart. I hope there will always be libraries full of books to visit.

Aren't you clever Miss Keetha! Love your Library...ours has everything but the coffee shop and I think that is a fine idea!

Aren't you clever? (And I was gonna say that before I noticed that the previous commenter said it first!)

As a life-long bookworm I have to admit I kinda miss the days that the library was just for bookworms... but I do still love the library. So many options, so little time.

I love, love, love libraries and being surrounded by all the books. However, I admit I have a nook. I like the fact that I can de-clutter my bookshelves, have an on-line library and my nook fits nicely in my purse. The only negative thing I can say about my nook, is remembering to charge it.

Great PR for your lovely library! Having been there, and being a great lover of libraries generally, I add my kudos--both to your post, and to your beautiful library.

I love ours too, which used to feature a wonderful painted, padded bathtub in the children's section.

(I have a Nook, too, and I can't remember the names of books I've read without having a "Cover" to remember.) What's up with that???

A very modern library. I love going to libraries to research and to just browse.

Ours is still under construction and will open next year. The flood of 2008 washed out the old library.

I surely did enjoy my poetic romp through your library. I love that you have coffee.

What a lovely poem, you should enter that in a few contests...seriously. and such a beautiful library. I have been visiting them all over the country and I have not seen a cafe in one of them. Brilliant idea!!

Oh, I could totally live in that library! Just love the atmosphere among the books!

The icing on this cake is the poetry, Keetha. It is amazing!

What a treat!
