On the southern edge of our fair city there is a "pine encrusted" lake called Nepco.
.
.
Its shores are dotted in strategic places with lovely old lake homes.
Some may call these cottages, but oh my word, many of them are HUGE homes.
(Disclaimer - this photo is all wonky because I "straightened" it using a program I'm not an expert in using which resulted in a border that is crooked, sort of like the house that Jack built. Again, you KNOW who you are dealing with over here.)
.
.
I love how they peek out from their piney woods.
..
Some of them barely peek at all.
..
This one had a previous life as a sleeper car.
I'm totally fascinated with it.
Too bad it is so well camouflaged in its pine grove.
.
.
This place is a home,
A water park,
And a party house all in one.
.
.
I noticed that at Nepco
It is all the rage to
Have a boathouse.
By boathouse I do of course
Mean a "garage" right on the water
For the boat.
By boathouse I do of course
Mean a "garage" right on the water
For the boat.
.
.
And the boathouse must double as a party house.
.
.
And the party house must have both
Upper and Lower seating.
.
.
Even the pump house must sport an upper deck
And be festooned with flowers.
Sadly, I have never been invited to partake
Of riparian festivities
In such a place as this.
I think I must splash in a mud puddle,
Paddle up a down river,
Or
Swim on the wrong side of the bridge.

Ah yes, lake life! I fear this is another area where I have transitioned to a southern beach lover, because I could appreciate the beauty, but kept looking for waves and sand!
Lovely Keetha and what an interesting post!
They are missing out big time for not having invited you to one of their parties.
Heading to Arizona next week to see the other grandbaby!!
Big Hugs,
Cindy
Do not despair. One day, Hyacinth and you will parktake of a riparian journey amidst the humble cottages. just bring your swimsuit in case your lofty vessel tips.
Living in a boathouse sounds adventurous. I don't think I'd be brave enough to do it, because I'd be afraid of flooding. This community does look very lively!
The houseboats are great. What a lovely place to set anchor.
I'm not positive about this, (not owning any lake property,) but I don't think people are permitted to build boathouses anymore in our fair state. So these must be vintage dwellings.
Great post and I guess you took a boat ride with FH to get these shots, huh?
These places are nice, but I wonder if we are not happier without such. At least for me, the simply life is just fine.
So very picturesque! As for being invited to the party, Keetha, I've often found that when we focus on something long enough, it happens! :D
These photos are beautiful and I prefer the piney houses to the boathouses. So like a fairy tale!
Happy Sunday!
Very cool! It is my life goal to live on the water and these provided really good inspiration.
Happy Sunday!

I would love to take a vacation there. It's so lovely.
Interesting. In Finland you can not build totally on the beach anymore. A sauna you can build about 65-98 ft from the water.
A cottage/house even further.
You asked about Málaga. It is in Spain, south. It's a province and its also a name of the city. Málaga has important port for huge cruise ships.
A couple of them here: http://www.visitcostadelsol.com/discover-costa-del-sol/travel-for-all/cruising
Have a good week ahead!
I like it! Looks like a nice secluded place to have fun. Of course I imagine the mosquitoes like it too!
Wow. A water park, too, and nobody's there (?!)

I bet the sleeper car house has an interesting story. Wonder what it is? We have a small river front community made up of floating houses at Ellis Harbor on the Cedar River. Many of them were swept away during the flood of 2008. For a time the state said no to reconstituting the homes but the public outcry to keep the concept was overwhelming. So today many refurbished and re-anchored homes are back.
You'll just have to make friends with those boat garage people.
Riparian festivities?
Quite a collection of homes.
You may need to do a crop after you rotate the photo, to get the edges straight.
Pine encrusted?
I'm enchanted!
What a neat community of eclectic and interesting homes!
Love the sleeper car home. I've even seen shipping containers used all sorts of ways. Great post.
I don't have a cottage, but I'm guessing that if I did, it wouldn't matter how it looked, as long as it was relatively mouse/spider free and away from home :)
I enjoyed this post, Keetha--You don't see this stuff every day!
