.
Today I want to share a "funny" that happened in my city, in my neighborhood, in my HOME this week.
A year and a half ago while I was unpacking and moving into this home, I realized that my dish-scrubber-sponge-on-a-soap-handle wouldn't "hang" from the edge of the sink - - - it kept slithering and clattering down into the sink.
So, I "retired" one of my 70's cartoon character glasses from its former role of being a drinking glass - - -
And turned it into the dish-scrubber-sponge-on-a-soap-handle holder. It works great.
It's been sitting by the sink, carrying out its new function for A YEAR AND A HALF.
Today while I was wiping off dishes getting them ready to put in the dishwasher, I noticed that good ole Tweety had a ring of blue Dawn dish detergent down in her bottom.
I thought, "I'll rinse that out of there before I put the sponge back when I'm finished loading the dishwasher."
Meanwhile Fisherhubby, my lawn gnome, was busy fertilizing and "de-grubbing" the yard.
I could see him going back and forth across the back lawn, back and forth, back and forth out in the hot sun.
I thought, "He looks really hot, thirsty, and dehydrated. I think he should take a break and come in here to cool down and get a drink."
Pretty soon he did just that.
I was still busy at the sink, so he got his own drink and disappeared with it.
I finished my task, and reached over to pick up Tweety and rinse him out.
He wasn't there.
He's been there for A YEAR AND A HALF - HOLDING HIS LITTLE SPONGE ON A STICK.
I thought, "Did I stick him in the dishwasher without realizing it????"
Nope.
Then I thought, "Did Greg take him for a DRINKING GLASS???"
So - - - I went through the house in search of my 14 year old husband and found him sitting on the front stoop.
"Do you have the Tweety glass??"
"Yep"
"Are you drinking out of it?"
"Yep"
"How does it taste?"
"Fine - - - - - (long pause) - - - no it doesn't, it tastes like SOAP!"
"You goose! It's only been our dish-washing-sponge-on-a-stick holder for A YEAR AND A HALF!!!"
"Well, maybe I've been saying too many bad words and needed to wash my mouth out with soap!!"
If you don't know what "washing your mouth out with soap" is all about, you are far too young and I won't bother to attempt an explanation!
Trust me - - - I know ALL ABOUT IT, from multiple experiences as a child.
And THAT'S what's been happening 'round these here parts this weekend - - - what's been happening in YOUR neck of the old woods?

You have me laughing! I don't think there is that much excitement or news to report from this neck of the country. Your lawn gnome can be happy he is top dog in the "news around the home" department!Tweety Bird tastes soapy.
Thanks for the chuckle. Gotta love the ever observant folk we seem to share our lives with! Did Tweety return to his dish-washing supervisory duties or did he join his fellow glasses?
Cute story!
Thanks for the morning giggle! Poor Fisherhubby:) Have a blessed Sunday, HUGS!
That is funny, and I love that he took it with such good humor.
Hysterical - he was a good sport about it. I am so amazed at how often husbands can not notice the little things around the house, some times they can be so dense. Have a great weekend Keetha.
HAHAHAHA!!!! And I do remember having my mouth washed out with soap! Bluck!
Thank you for such a funny story this morning! Love it! Tweety is one of my favorites also...random thought there...lol. hugs, Linda
LOVE this! :D I suspected as much the moment you said you'd be back after loading the dishwasher and the next pic was the lawn. Oh, I so enjoyed this. We've had instances of this at home too! And we remember them forever!
Hugs! I have catching up to do - been down with viral fever!
Laughing out loud! This sounds like something my hubby would do! Have a great week!
I taud I taw a puddy tat!
men are so terribly unobservant aren't they?
There are people who don't know about getting their mouths washed out with soap?? psh. Young folk. ;)
That's pretty hilarious, though.
I loved those character glasses - wish I still had them, especially Tweety.
PS I'm glad for your honesty. That picture looked weird to me, but I figured it's because I'm so self critical. Oy. I'm pretty mortified now that I posted it. I'm fine, just not good with applying make-up base. I had to take a close-up, because I took it myself, and I just felt like it was time for a personal touch (picture.) Bad idea. =) Yikes. Thanks!

Oh, poor hubby. I hope you found him a clean glass and poured him a cold one right away.
Ok that's a good one Keetha!
OMG, I think Dan would do that as well!
i think men just don't notice those little details unless it involves say football or fishing or something along that line!
I am going to try to catch up on my blogging but....
My son and dil and baby Calista come Tuesday and I have a ton to do!
Hugs friend,
Cindy
YOU are pre-rinsing dishes!?!?!
OHHHH that father of mine...I love him so! I had a perfect picture of you both as you went through your story. I miss you guys!!! OODLES!
Love you and Dad. Thank you for sharing your life...makes me feel like maybe we don't live 8 hours away from each other (sometimes).
You couldn't have rigged that one better!!!! That is just too funny and believe me, I know what the washing out with soap is all about!
That is hilarious! Of all times and of all cups.
Reminds me of the time as a teenager making up some diluted vinegar rinse for my hair and setting it on the kitchen counter in a huge cup. Meanwhile my dad, who is known to eat/drink anything, mindless began gulping it down. You'd think he'd learn, but then again he dips his hotdogs in chocolate pudding. What can I say?! We've always had a good laugh about his eating.
I've had my mouth washed out with soap a time or two!
Uh-oh. Busted.
:-)
Happy SIMC, jj
Teehee! That is pretty funny!
Oh! My gosh! That is so funny! I thought you were going to say He thought you made him a drink. ~ My husband would do that! He noticed nothing!!! Unless my shirts to low ((in his opinion ))and then he'll have something to say about that! LOL!!
That may cleanse the mouth as well as the stomach. Hope he is okay.
MEN!! Sometimes they are just in their own little world! Funny story!
Now, why doesn't that surprise me?haha (the soap experience in your childhood) Great story!
I love his comeback. Did he burp? Were there bubbles?
That's a great story. LOL! I myself enjoyed several bars of soap by my mother's hand.
What he lacks in observation skills, he makes up in Good Nature-d-ness. Thanks for the giggle, and you DO know how to tell a story!
