Many of you have asked where in the world I've been.

All I know is that after 7 plus years of blogging and a different lappy, which I don’t like, I seem to have lost my blogging fervor.

Someday, when you least expect it, I will post again.

For those of you still waiting I say thank you.

Meanwhile, I am rather prolific on twitter. Find me: @KeethaB

5th Sunday at Peepaw's

.

Years ago now, my parents started a tradition called "5th Sunday." Every month with a 5th Sunday in it there is a standing invitation to all their kids, grans, and great grans to come to S. Adams Street for dinner.

Things have changed in recent years. Mom now resides in Heaven, Sister Pam and BIL Joe live in Florida, Niece Misti has moved to Sitka Alaska, and Fisherhubby and I are in Central Wisconsin.

Still Peepaw, as we affectionately call my dad, continues the tradition. These days, unless Sister Pam and I have returned from far flung reaches, most of the 5th Sunday attendees are Fisherhubby's and my offspring, their spouses, and children.

Last Sunday was 5th Sunday at South Adams Street. Though Fisherhubby and I couldn't be there our oldest daughter took the following photos and shared the following sentiments:

Fifth Sunday Dinner is -
...tradition
...family
...heritage
...home
...homemade food
...laughs
...hugs
...loud boisterous talking
...Grandpa's red apron
...the chime of the dining room clock
...toys passed down through generations
...love

Keri Baker

Peepaw, 83 years young greets his grans and great grans.

Yes, he most certainly IS a real cook!

Two grans and two friends of grans playing with the same old cardboard box of toys that our offspring and their cousins played with all their growing up years.

Amazing how those old low tech toys still capture and hold attention.

The kids make a beeline for the closet where they KNOW the old cardboard box is kept.

The food is always delicious.

And our oldest son Kelly is always ORNERY (just like Fisherhubby - - - wink, wink). Good thing he married a calm, patient sweetheart!

As always, Peepaw waits until LAST to fill his plate - - - ever hovering to make sure all the kids, grans, and great grans get their fill. Looks like our SIL Chris is about to enjoy some salad.

And all around the table there is joy. We are not a quiet crew - - - but we know what we like, and we like this tradition of getting together.

Even youngest son Kyle, with "the face" and waving a carrot is enjoying himself. He's just adding his own brand of humor to the day. He has to be very original to be heard or seen above his older brother's clamor.

There is reminiscing of days gone by - - - there is dreaming of the future - - -

There is encouragement - - - there is the bond of belonging.

And after dinner?

"Pile on Auntie Korie!"

Whew - - - it USED to be "Pile on mom!" I'm pretty glad to pass THAT particular tradition down to our "little girl."

I feel so nostalgic looking at these photos. We used to do that until a few years ago. Now everyone is scattered across the globe. I grew up in a joint family - My Granma, Ma, Uncles and Aunts and cousins. Amazing gang.

Very very nice feeling, coming over, as always. Thank you, Keetha! Have a wonderful week ahead.

Peepaw is one handsome man. If he lived near here I'd introduce him to my 83-year old mother!!! She would love a man who would cook for her:)

What a special family tradition, and what a special family. I can feel the love and laughter.

PS I agree, I much prefer when bloggers spotlighting their cities inform us what cities they're spotlighting.

Be well, Keetha.

What an amazing tradition -- how fortunate your family is to have a man such as Peepaw to keep it going. I'm glad your daughter was there to capture the moments.

It is amazing how those types of traditions have been lost in the last decade or so. How nice to make it the 5th Sunday so it is on everyone's calendar and yet isn't a burden with its regularity. Really lovely family you have.

What a wonderful tradition. Certainly a day that is worth keeping available for everyone to celebrate the love of family.

I am lucky. I have twelve siblings and my entire extended family including nieces and nephews with even a few great greats currently totals 75 and all but six live in the same county. So, we get together often.

We have two weddings happening this summer and one new arrival due any day so that number is always changing. We just need to build a place that will hold us all at one time without having to worry about what the weather will be like.
