FF's and I Don't Mean French Fries

.

Again this week ALL my frags have one theme. I have good reason for this - - - two "little frags" have kept me busy all week and I didn't have time to get fragmented any other way.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

This is for YOU, "Go-Blue" Daddy.

(For those of you who may not understand that, Blue in this case is the blue of the Michigan Wolverines.)

Kamma says, "When in 'Consin, dress like it!"

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Have you ever noticed that no matter how many fancy schmancy toys are around - - -

Kids will entertain themselves with something "free for the taking" nine times out of ten?

Who knew rocks could be so fascinating?

* * * * * * * * * * * *

No, their grandmother did NOT make them sleep on the floor. This was a "fort" (of sorts) of their own creation.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

There is something so sweet and innocent

About children resting, isn't there?

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Two little cooks

Making mud stew.

Which they will gladly share with you!!

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Looks like a torture chamber, doesn't it?
Sounds like one too with all the screaming.
But kids just keep rushing back in there, so it must not be ALL bad.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Piper found her lost twin at the lake.

Even the care-givers had trouble knowing which child to "yell" at.

* * * * * * * * * * *

A peaceful riparian vista captured during our evening walk and duck-feeding excursion.

Now please hurry over to Mrs 4444's place
and see all the Friday Fragments!

Wuzzy Wuzzy - CHA CHA CHA!!!

.

Yesterday I gave a little hint about what we were up to, and of course those of you who happened to respond knew right away that we were at the beach. My hint was none too subtle. Hehehe

We spent a hot afternoon at Red Sand (wonder HOW they got the name) Beach on Lake Wazeecha.

Yes, smarty pants, it IS a lakey beach. I don't remember WHICH smarty pants pointed out that here in Central Wisconsin it would HAVE to be a lakey beach, but whichever smarty pants it was they were entirely correct.

This was a favorite summertime haunt of Sister Pam's, our friends', and mine when we were in high school.

I love it just as much today as I did then.

Meanwhile, back at the blog post - - - here's what we DID at the lake shore yesterday:

ONE of us sat in this red "camp" chair (except for a brief wade or two into the cold water for personal climate control) the whole time casting a guardian eye over the diminutive swimmers.

The OTHER one did this a few yards up shore from us. Hardly surprising is it?

The diminutives did a bit of digging in the carrot-red sand. They tried a roll or two in it until Kamma, fearing their skins would turn a permanent orange shade yelled: STOP!!!

(Mama, their "babin' suits" will never be the same. Good thing they weren't brand spankin' new THIS season!!!)

The diminutives also enjoyed some water frolic - - - especially with their newly acquired squirt guns.

They even paddled and floated around. Pipes is especially adept at the whole floating thing.

Other lake goers weren't content with shoreline activities but preferred to zoom by, creating surf in their wake.

While still others opted for a slower, gentler, quieter paddle-by.

I've had my eye on the kayakers. I may put a kayak on my bucket list of things to acquire someday.

"I'm a mermaid!"

"What is this, Papoo?"

And after a long, slow, deliberate pause Papoo would say: "That is a ROCK"

This went on time and time again.

Cheer up mama and daddy - - -
a WHOLE collection of lovely rocks are coming home!!!

The dam that makes Wazeecha a Lake instead of a gentle stream.

We made up our own version of "Oh Once There Were Three Fishermen" which we sang repeatedly as we trolled around the lake.

In our version of the song there were four fishermen and they were:
Pah Pah - Poo, Poo, Poo
Kah Kah - Ma, Ma, Ma
Mackin Mackin - Lee, Lee, Lee
Pie Pie - Purr purr purr

And they all went down to
Wuzzy Wuzzy - CHA CHA CHA!!!

Guess where we are and what we're doing.

I Don't Call Him Fisherhubby for Nuttin', Honey!

.
First of all, if you happen to be a parent of Mackinley and Piper and came here looking for new pictures of them playing in 'Consin - - - you will be sadly disappointed.

I worked at the library yesterday and though Papoo took the kids to a lovely pond with a tall sand hill they could climb and slide down, he took nary a photo with his fancy schmancy i-phone.

What's the use of fancy schmancy if you don't use it, that's what I say.

So, I'm resorting to a post full of pictures I took on an earlier outing with the grans, though the grans aren't in these except for one shot of the very top of Mack's head.

I don't call him Fisherhubby for nuttin', honey!!! This is his FAVORITE pose - - -

Unless you count this one.

He truly believes that a bad day of fishing beats a good day of work anytime.

This isn't an example of "serious fishing." Nope, this is just casting along the shore for a few minutes while entertaining Kamma and the Kids out on Lake Nepco one evening last week.

Serious fishing involves hours and hours and toil and man-sweat in all kinds of weather.

Notice that gorgeous place on the bank - - - I'll show more of it momentarily, but first - - -

Meet Mr. or Ms Loon. Loons are one bird of which both sexes look identical. They are our favorites.

We see them farther north all the time, but I didn't realize there was at least one (though usually they travel in pairs so probably we just didn't see the other) on Lake Nepco.

You just really need to HEAR them. I didn't think to try to capture a video, so thank you Youtube!

There is nothing quite like hearing lonely loon calls over a darkened body of water.

Now back to this gorgeous spread on the shore.

It has its own bridge and boathouse and everything.

I admire whomever is able to do all this landscaping and flower growing 'cause goodness knows that person is NOT I.

Or have you already forgotten about my botanical homicide tendencies?

We saw this on the point between the boathouse and main house of the above property.

We didn't trespass.

I just took this photo and waved to the surveillance camera from the boat. I kinda hoped someone would come out and wave back - - -

But they didn't.

The END.

River Walk-Way Therapy

.

Many folks find biking or hiking along the late afternoon placid waters of the mighty Wisconsin to be physically and mentally therapeutic.

But that "ain't" the kind of therapy I'm talkin' 'bout in THIS HERE post.

Nope.

This is the kind of therapy where you take your darlin' little energy-bomb grans down to the river walk-way just before bed time and you say:

"Race to that bench way down there and back" - - - at LEAST two times. (Notice the joy on Pipe's face 'cause she's winning.)

And then you turn them loose on the playground for a round of swinging and sliding

So that when you take them home, scrub them up in the tub, and pop them into their little trundle beds they will drift away to dreamland almost immediately and STAY there until the sun comes up - - - at least.

This is the BEST kind of therapy for old care-givers.

I promise.

Wherein a Young Lad Catches His First Fish

.

AKA Sunday on a lake which is very near my city, Lake Nepco.

(Disclaimer: This event did NOT occur on a Sunday, but I SAVED it specially for the SIMC post. You'll thank me later - - - ;-)

Captain Piper welcomes us on board.

Not to be outdone, First Mate Mack takes the wheel.

While Mack pilots, Miss Piper plays ship stewardess.

Suddenly Papoo gets an idea.
An idea that is NEVER too far out of his mind.

Let's go fishing!

One cast and Papoo hooks into something good!

"Come here, Mack!! You can reel it in!"

"What a beauty! A chubby large mouth bass."

"Here, Mack. Let me show you how to HOLD your bass by the lip."

"I don't think I want to touch it!"

"Let ME, Papoo!" says Piper.

"Ooooo, Papoo! He's kinda slimy and stinky!
I don't really LIKE holding him."

"Let ME try, Papoo!!!
I LIKE him - - - and next time I want to catch a fish."

No fish or children were harmed in the filming of this blog post.
Mr. Large Mouth was released to swim again
And be caught another day.
