Still Walkin' After All These Years

.
Oh I do lie!!!! It's only been two and a half weeks since I started this walking thing.

I'm so glad I didn't decide to start right off with RUNNING or something really stupid like that, 'cause my right ankle HURTS after just a mile or so of easy walking. (That's code for barely moving.)

Of course these new walking shoes help tremendously.

So far I've:
Walked at 5:30 AM at the Y BEFORE SCHOOL
3 times, including today BY MYSELF!!!

Walked at the Y at 8:30 AM
3 times

Walked around a drainage pond "lake" twice

Zigged and Zagged up and down
our cul-de-sac multiple times,
But for the life of me
I'm not sure how many!!!

I do know this:
Today I walked 2.45 miles - - -
About half of that this morning
Before school and the rest
in the cul-de-sac a few minutes ago.

Perhaps you wonder why in the world
I keep talking about this.
(Don't worry, I wonder too)
It's because exercise and I
Have been strangers for
Soooooooooo looooooong.

I'm shamelessly begging and pleading
For words of encouragement
To keep me going.

Shamelessly.

(I would give credit for the photo if I knew to whom credit was due.)

Two "Awwwwwwww" Moments in One Post

.

Awwwwwww Moment Numero Uno:

Daughter Keri snapped this photo of my "other" daughter Haley et moi the other night at La Charreada, my favorite Mexican Restaurant. I love the photo, so I quickly swiped it right off of Keri's blog to post it here.

Notice who is already eating chips and salsa.

Awwwwwww Moment Numero Two-o:

My friend Debbie over at "There's an Angel on My Porch" gave me this bloggy award today!!! Thank you Miss Debbie!!!! I feel honored indeed.

Fifth Sunday Dinner

.

Whenever there is a fifth Sunday in the month, my dad hosts a family dinner. We weren't a very large crowd today but the food was yummy and we had a great time anyway.

Sister Pam and Dad (Peepaw) getting things ready.

Our youngest, Kyle
(Actually this picture was taken before the event)

Mackinley does not forget
This box of toys which Peepaw
Keeps for the great grans.

Piper and mommy, Keri
(Mommy is our firstborn)

Piper and Uncle Kelly
(Kelly is our second born,
He's our oldest son)

Piper and Great Auntie Pam

Relish tray!!!!

Can you tell these two are brothers?
G. Kelly and J. Kyle
Yep - - - I'm THAT kind of mom,
I have a PATTERN to how I
Named my children.

Still Watchin' Those Skies - - -

.

Praise ye the Lord.
Praise, O ye servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord.

Blessed be the Name of the Lord
From this time forth and for evermore.

From the rising of the sun
Unto the going down of the same
The Lord's Name is to be praised.

Psalm 113: 1-3 KJV

.

Bearding the Lion in His Den - - -

.

Last evening we took the grans
To "Beard the Lion in His Den."

The "Lion"
Was making a very good
Imitation of being busy.

But he was content
To let us visit in his presence.

"Simba" took lessons
On how to become the King.

I'm Having the Vista Malfunctioning Blues

.

I heard through the grapevine that some folks had trouble with their Windows Vista. I have had my lappy for a year and a half now, with nary a problem, so I assumed the "bugs" were worked out BEFORE I got this computer.

Alas and Alack, I assumed WAY TOO SOON.

When lappy saves updates, it does NOT let me know where it saved them, and it does NOT automatically install them.

While I was having that short "fling" with Mr. Marriott, my flash player got uninstalled when I thought it was updating. I also need to download a newer version of my antivirus program. I have tried and tried to do both - - - and the files download just fine, but then they are saved to who knows where, never to be found by the most elaborate of searches, and so they do me absolutely no good.

I thought it was just my own computer illiteracy that was the problem - - - but number one daughter just spent about an hour trying to help me and it is even beyond her prowess. She looked for help online and found that LOTS of other folks are having this exact same problem.

Now what to do ? ? ?

Later Update:

Baby boy came home from college and FIXED all my problems in less than 5 minutes.

Don't I feel foolish!!!!

If you are having Vista download problems - - - search for "downloads" instead of the NAME of the download.

Thrifty (?) Thursday

.

This week my entry in
Leigh's Thrifty Thursday
Isn't really thrifty at all
(Except the frame was
Only a few cents
At Dollar General ) - - -
It's a favorite instead.

I'm taking this liberty with
Leigh's party
Because she's my friend
And I think she'd allow it!!!

This is my favorite
Portrait that was ever taken
Of any of my babies.

Notice, I did NOT say
This is my favorite child.
I have FOUR favorite children.

But this is the cutest
Portrait that was ever
Captured of any of them
When they were in their
Baby phase.

This is Kelly.
He is our oldest son
And is now 28.

The stories I could tell.
Oh I think I will
Share just a few:

When he was this size,
He loved to have
"pecial" time with his mommy.
That included stories
And songs - - - while the
Other children napped.

One day when he was
About three, I found him
Trying to sell the gravel
Out of our driveway
For 5 cents per rock.

I told him no one wanted
To buy our gravel.
He said,
"Uh huh, Mommy!"
And opened up his chubby
Little paw in which
Were three dirty nickels.

When he was in Grade School
He once took his little sister,
Korie, by the hand
Door to door telling people:
"Our grandma died
And we don't have any food
To eat."

I still had to LIVE
In that neighborhood after that!

He still to this day
Delights in picking on his mama.
One of the reasons I
Don't grocery shop
Is because he takes
Every opportunity to
Tear the labels off the
Canned goods on my
Pantry shelves.

OK - - - so that has nothing
To do with why I don't shop - - -

Now he's all grown up,
And is the manager of
A thriving Pizza Hut
In Fort Wayne.

One day he shall have a son of his own,
And his son will be
JUST LIKE HIM.

His little nephew, Mackinley,
Already is!!!

.

Why Do You Do That?!?!

.

That's what a well meaning,
Kindly soul asked me at church one Sunday.
He was, of course, speaking about my blog.

"Why would anyone want to do that,
Put pictures of their life
And talk about it on the internet
For all the world to see?"
Was his exact question - - -

It gave me pause for thought.
Why DO I DO THIS?
Why do I WANT to???

Others answer this question
In a variety of ways - - -
Some blogs TEACH
Some blogs PREACH
Some blogs are a PLATFORM
Some blogs SELL

If any of that happens on this blog,
It is purely accidental.

I blog because
It brings me great joy.

I blog because
It brings a smile to my face,
And to yours too I hope.

I blog because I can.
I can't dance,
I can't sing,
I certainly can't run.

But I can blog.

It is the bestest hobby
On the planet.

And since I already have my lappy
And my digi cam
And the internet,

It doesn't cost me anything either.
And THAT makes me smile.

Those are all the reasons
I STARTED blogging - - -

But since I started,
I've learned MORE reasons - - -

And all of those new reasons
Revolve around Y - O - U!!!

I blog to get comments
FROM YOU

And to get added to
YOUR favorites list

And to be followed
BY YOU.

And to hear from YOU
That something I posted

On my little ole blog
Brought a smile to YOUR face

Or actually made YOU
Laugh right out loud!!

Because really,
Isn't this blogging thing

All about community????

It is for me!
YOU are my community,
And I LOVE YOU!

That is why I blog.

Heeeeeeere's Jayden!!!

.

This handsome little man
Is Jayden Tejeda.

He's posing here with his mommy and daddy.
Jayden is now four months old.

He made his appearance
In this big old world
Two months early,
So he has been very busy
Just trying to get big
Enough to survive outside the NICU.

It looks like he will be going home,
With the help of several machines,
On Saturday.

And here is Kamma Keetha
Putting him to sleep.
My students say that is what I do best - - -
Put people to sleep!

Joy of joys!!
Jayden is fast asleep.
Kamma Keetha has not lost her touch!

.

A Little Fun in the NICU

.

Daddy Gerson
On the outside looking in - - -

Look who's joining him!!!

Once in,
Dad's very busy on his little Mac.

Just look at these itty bitty feet
In these itty bitty Colts booties!!!

OK - WHAT IS UP WITH THIS CLOCK???
Do you think it was made that way
Or altered?

.
