I observed this beautiful lichen covered rock and captured it with my camera JUST so I could share it with you!!!!

Keetha Broyles said...: Well, here's the "short course" Lichens are not plants, as we had originally thought - - - but rather are a fungus with either an alga or a cyanobacteria living in symbiosis with them. The fungus provides the support and the alga or bacteria can perform photosynthesis and provide the food - - - thus both are happy as clams at high tide.; September 4, 2008 at 5:09 PM
